I noticed some Arizona players popping up in mock drafts who I knew were recruited/developed by Judd. I wanted to dive into how well Judd has done at bringing in talent and getting in drafted, particularly in his three years at Arizona. The results are impressive. One example is Judd has four DBs in this draft he recruited/developed (possibly 5) who should get picked.

We'll start with guys Judd didn't sign, but developed.

1. T Jordan Morgan - low-3-star to first round pick after 3 years with Judd. For reference, this guy got drafted earlier in his draft than Conerly did his
2. K Tyler Loop
3. CB Treydan Stukes - walk on -pre-Judd but spent 3 years under Judd and projected as possible first round pick in 2026

Okay, but what about guys Judd signed, and developed at Arizona?

1. S Dalton Johnson - Class of 21 - Should be day 2/3 pick 2026
2. WR Jacob Cowing - Portal class of 22
3. TE Tanner McLachlan - Portal class of 22
4. WR Tetairoa McMillan - Class of 22
5. G Jonah Savaiinaea - Class of 22
6. RB Jonah Coleman - Class of 22
7. CB Tacario Davis - Class of 22
8. CB Ephesians Prysock - Class of 22
*S Gunner Maldonado - Class of 22 - might get drafted after transferring to Kansas State

Okay, so that's impressive. We're not done. There are still a lot of guy's Judd signed at Arizona, specifically in 2022 who are still playing college football and should/could get drafted

1. QB Noah Fifita - Class of 22
2. G Wendell Moe Jr. - Class of 22 (now at Tennessee)
3. TE Dorian Thomas (Now at Cal) - Class of 23
4. DE Isaiah Ward (Now at UW) - Class of 22
5. DE Russell Davis II (Now at UW) - Class of 22
6. LB Jacob Manu (Now at UW) - Class of 22
7. CB Emmanuel Karnley (Now at UW) - Class of 23

Pretty impressive, particularly the Class of 22, where you are likely looking at least 7 surefire draft picks and 2 portal guys. Then go look at Arizona historically and see how that program has done in the draft. This is impressive.

I didn't bother doing UW guys Judd has coached or UW portal guys yet because it's hard to assess.

This is the same thing that I noticed. I don’t know if it is an eye for talent or an ability to develop or a mixture of both. However he has a track record of identifying and improving talent. Possibly better or equal to CP. I’m very interested to see what the young talent at UW looks like going forward. Great post WD.

Yeah. That pretty much confirms just who Jedd is as a college coach. Really good at identifying, recruiting and developing talent. Not as good at in game coaching. I do wish he would just play to his strengths and give up play calling. His head coaching record would likely level up.

Yeah, there's no denying that IMO. That Class of 22 alone is pretty damn impressive. I'm not going to do the research to compare but I'm guessing that's pretty historically great at Arizona and a program like Arizona. His class of 2023 looks a little disappointing though.

I think recruiting at UW in the NIL era is a different beast though. At Arizona you could make haie with excellent scouting of the SoCal and local 3 star types and aiming for the upper-middle Pac-12. You have to be able to outwheel big programs for 5-10 true blue chip guys you have to find a way to keep from Oregon, USC, etc I think to have major success at UW. I'm not yet fully convinced Jedd can do that.
