Hey guys! Since my job status is a popular topic amongst people here, just wanted to share I’m in the final round of interviews at a Sillicon Valley based company next week for a Director position.
See guys, when you have talent, you too can mingle with the elite brains of the world.

A “promotion” away from HQ.
Nobody believes you, Spaz. Gets you out of golf with Bob I guess when you “move.”

Live look at Buck and friends.

Congrats on the promotion to still being below the C Suite.

I read a funny tweet yesterday on someone's Amazon promotion. This guy was an engineer in AWS, unlike Buck.
Said that he was trying to get his promotion and needed to come up with some paper to present to them. Saw a back end java process that had been going for 5 years almost entirely without issue.
So he wrote a paper arguing for rewriting the entire thing in Go, which he got promoted and they did. More expensive, slower, and needed constant maintenance. But dude got his promotion and joked about the junior level guy(s) that were going to have to suffer through his bullshit Day 1 while he was no longer responsible for any of it.

Who said I was moving? The HQ is in Sillicon Valley but I only have to show up 1 week a quarter. Oh snap!

How’s your 2-iron working out for you Chris….since you don’t need any fairway woods in your bag

You’ll have to excuse Haie. I’ve got more vision in my c#%k than this guy can produce in his entire body. Let me know when the next Husky get together is so I can figure this dude’s “company”

Lol, bro, do you know how many times someone comes up to me with a different variation of this "factual story". Its fucking satire. If you think rewriting a perfectly stable Java backend in Go for a promotion sounds like a real AWS policy to you, Ive got a bridge to sell you
I mean, maybe junior engineers believe this story is true…..which might explain why you think its true.
LMAO.

Yep, just like I thought. The entire point of this thread was to cry out to your dad with pride 🌈
I won't be here when you're still talking to yourself on Page 20.

Damn bro…I can’t believe you stated that story as fact…
Like….god damn bro. You’re an engineer with critical thinking skills right?

Someone might want to point out to Buck, since he’s gonna be working there and all, that Silicon Valley is spelled with one L.

He’s pretty smart though, so I’m sure he was just misspelling it repeatedly to own you guys.

go > Java

I love Go

In other words can't get promoted to level 7 and leaving for a "director" position at a "startup". Yeah I'm familiar with this career pathway.
