Ranked 31by Scout based on average stars the last I checked at a 3.05 average. Beats two of wonderboy Sark's classes, including one of them when he was three years into the job.
This debate was over before it started, but it's overer now.
Sark is a mediocre recruiter at best. The 2012 & 2013 classes were only good because of Tosh & Sirmon.
The 2012 class was actually pretty shitty. It has a few good players, a ton of flameouts, and a lot of charity scholarships.
There were six 2* recruits and the only things that salvaged the overall star rating were stealing Lupoi and Shaq Thompson with him and signing two 4* quarterbacks (knowing full well that only one had any chance of ever being a starter). Pio Vatuvei (***), Cleveland Wallace (***), Erich Wilson (**), Kalei Auelua (***), Blake Rodgers (***), Nathan Dean (***), and Darien Washington (**) all flamed out. Throw those guys out and take out one 4* QB and you still end up with a 3* average but only 16 recruits (4-2*, 9-3*, 2-4* and 1-5*). The national rank by Scout's system would drop 20-30 spots at least.
Also show me a functional lineman on either side of the ball from that class. This was Sark's whimpering attempt at making up for the lack of line recruiting in two of his previous three classes. The OL still on the roster are Taylor Hindy, Corey Fuavai, Jake Eldrenkamp, and Shane Brostek. Maybe Edrenkamp will end up a solid player but I think the jury is pretty much in on the others. The defensive side had JC Josh Banks (terrible), Damion Turpin (who?) and Corey Littleton. Littleton is a decent rotational player.
2012 also included a punter who has sat the bench virtually from day one and a fullback who was never a part of Sark's offense.
Sark was a great recruiter...
