In-State Players Thread

How does a gigantic dude with offers from Oregon, Tennessee, and both Arizona schools wind up at a community college in Utah? There's gotta be a story here.

as mentioned previously, and if you truly didn't know, grades didn't pan out ... sounds like he is a 4* for football but he needs serious work in the classroom to be able to play D1.

I have seen interviews with players who I'd bet good money couldn't spell more than a handful of three letter words. I'm actually shocked that academic issues of any kind are a barrier to a D1 scholarship at the pointy end.

You would be surprised. I played high school basketball with a fringe D-1 kid that probably read at about a second grade level. He once wrote a paper on my family’s computer that my whole family was astounded how little of a grasp he had of writing. It was like a first grader wrote it.

There is only so much you can do for some people. They still have to take the tests. You can’t write a perfect paper for them because then it’s obvious they didn’t write it.

It's hard to tell for sure but he looks a couple of inches shorter than Tryon but with plenty of size to pack on muscle weight. Think he ends up at a comparable size?

Tryon looks like the edge rusher prototype. We all thought he was a good prospect coming and he's definitely done his part in terms of getting in shape. He's going to put it together on the field too if he ever gets back out there.

He may never get Tryon's height but his shoulders are every bid as broad as Joe's and his arms are already huge with plenty of room to bulk up. He's going to be absolutely huge even if an inch or two shorter.

And of course there's the chance he adds on a little more height.

Yep a Tryon eruption could give our weaker spots the chance to avoid being picked on. If hes forcing double teams consistently and or making the offense run away from his side then I like the the young D Line guys to be able to take advantage. It's really just the LBs that give me pause still.

I wish we had Cale instead of Morris. I like Hugh a lot. Also, he drops in here, too, from time to time. 😉

If he gets buried in the depth chart in Eugene he could always portal back home
