"Bilking" implies deceit, and I don't appreciate the accusation. I've worked with forum/cms platforms, Linux and software development since the 1990s and built/supported hundreds of Xenforo communities, including client referrals from Xenforo staff.

Yes, changing a single font size in CSS can be trivial. However, a 1:1 typography match from Vanilla to Xenforo isn't "change a number". The non-trivial part is matching the Vanilla platform's many page types and each type's varying element level font sizes to Xenforo's style system properties in a 1:1 way. That means mapping dozens of individual element font sizes to the correspond style property setting in Xenforo (there are hundreds to go through). Then validating the results as each change is made.

To protect the client's budget, I took a pragmatic approach by adjusting global font sizes and font face to improve readability without the greater number of hours required for 1 to 1 parity everywhere.
@haie is that you??

This is hilarious and I hope real.

Converting from one business's shit to another is always going to be painful.

AWS has the ability to make tools to make this less painful. They are still painful even from them.

These companies it will always be a shit show.

Converting hundreds of magic strings sucks in most situations.

Well I love the new format and am super impressed with how smooth this upgrade (and it clearly is an upgrade) has been

Kudos to all that have been involved!

My only disappointment is that I seem to have lost all of my points… I think I had like 3,800 or so and I was planning on redeeming them for that cool aqua colored Hamilton beach hand mixer that I saw in the catalogue when I got to 4,000. I know, Into every life a little rain must fall, but still

You couldn't figure out that people just needed to reset their passwords and had DJ doing it manually. Get the fuck off that high horse.

The dry "I don't appreciate that" nowadays is almost funnier than a casual "get fucked" or "fuck off" reply.
Within the dysfunctional family that is Hardcore Husky, there are certain posters who sometimes lack basic situational awareness.

I never addressed that issue with him. I constantly handed him long lists of things to work on, and he proceeded down those lists.

Please stop posting about stuff like this.

Nobody that understands security is involved in situations like this. Ever.

And what does a security thing have to do with converting stylesheets?

There's plenty to like about the new site, I dig it. The most surprising thing that I've learned from one of the new features is how many "guests" are visiting at any given tim. Holy fuckall there's a lot of lurkers around here.

It's mostly the coaches and players looking for direction and confirmation

In the early days of HcH, we were a backwater fringe website full of renegades and misanthropes. Then we became a big force from 2016-2019 and again in 2023. We would have thousands and even tens of thousands of lurkers on any given day. But after losing a handful of key posters from our Murderer's Row and seeing our traffic numbers go down as interest in UW football waned, only to see our numbers take a hit again in the rocky transition from Vanilla to here.... There's a lot to love about this new home of ours but it came with a cost, as not everyone followed us here, at least so far. So now we're kind of back to being a backwater fringe site full of renegades and misanthropes. We could become massive again but if it happens it will do so organically. I'm fine with it either way.

Ive seen HCH named on the zombie IG lists as a top 5ish college football forum many times. Don't think you lose that free pub entirely we just need to be able to handle the ups and downs

Backwater fringe of misanthropes would fit on a beer glass
