If we're academisly processed, why no Stanford?

Remember when UW used to recruit against Stanford? Now both programs are sucking football wise yet UW doesn't seem to be in battles with Stanford at all for the best kids who want to play school who can also kind of play football.

If the path is no NIL and academic, why isn't UW going after the best players considering Stanford and doing what Stanford does and going after the best prospects who are looking at schools like Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Duke?

They actually had a really good class last year, especially considering the recent seasons they've had. This year they're nothing special so far but better than UW

Because even though Washington is a great school, it isn't nearly as academically prestigious as the schools listed. Washington has a great niche where if they just put in a little effort in the NIL stratosphere, they could leverage it with their higher level academics over less academically renowned schools. Instead, Washington is in a conundrum where they lack the NIL presence to compete with the blue bloods, but also lack the academic prestige to compete with the likes of a Stanford or Duke. So, UW basically recruits against primarily non big 5 schools for talent. There will be the occasional win, like that 2025 WR. But, a change of course needs to be made.

Basically, Jen Cohen is the best AD Oregon has ever had.

This is perfect. UW found a way to puts itself in some weird no man's land. Why we are still fans, I don't know.

Offer to allow athletes to cut in line for the 7% accepted into the Computer Science program and watch the recruiting rankings skyrocket at the same time Red Square receives unprecedented riots, turning it into the new Chaz.

Or you can do what Stanford does and make your own bullshit CS/CE alt program to entice recruits.

There's no real right fit for UW almost at all leaning on academis in the Pac-12. Want to play school and play a little football? You can't beat Stanford, and Cal really. Want to have some very good academis but still a little too into football to go to Stanford - go to UCLA over UW unless for some reason you really want to live in Seattle.

The 2025 kid hasn’t even had a NIL offer. I think even the biggest homer realizes that kid will be tough to reel in when the actual time comes. He would have been tough to reel in even before NIL. He hasn’t even had a real NIL offer presented to him and Shepard more than likely won’t even be a UW coach by 2025.

That's a good point

There's no real right fit for UW almost at all leaning on academis in the Pac-12. Want to play school and play a little football? You can't beat Stanford, and Cal really. Want to have some very good academis but still a little too into football to go to Stanford - go to UCLA over UW unless for some reason you really want to live in Seattle.

UCLA is the good comparison and we recruit similar to them, I think.

Other than them being in Southern California and having better looking coeds, it’s a decent comparison.

Look up Chimps recruiting at UCLA. It's development/scouting based as well. It's taken a lot longer than Pete's did though.

But they are also requiring all their players to play school.

True on location, false on coeds. This isn't 1980/90's Seattle, jfc.

They took his commitment for optics/marketing of the staff. If the WR coach stays here long term it's a bit different, but yeah this wasn't anything meaningful compared to the 4* receiver they got.

UCLA had some classes that were really bad. Chip’s first couple years there it seemed like they weren’t even trying to recruit. They still are a mostly irrelevant program, but those classes ended up having talent in them.
