The only place Oregon should look is down in Berkeley (DeRuyter). Proven DC with a Leavitt-like track record of results (sans the player assault) and Cal's defense was really good this year, especially considering the minimal talent left by Dykes.

If Oregon promotes internally with someone who's never been DC before, the program is officially dead because it shows they haven't learned shit from the Helfrich/Pellum debacles. Go find someone who has proven they can do the job, not your buddy who might be able to do the job.

Didn't they just promote from within all of last year?

The DC and OC are the same as last year, so no. I think most of the Ducks on here have stated Cristobal was a pretty lazy hire by Mullens. But at least he had HC experience and was then Saban's whipping boy for 5 years. Some of the internal names being thrown around by Quooks at DC (cough big Joe cough) have zero DC experience, and would be Pellum/Hoke level hires.

The Throbber wholeheartedly endorses Big Joe as DC. Definitely need a big multi-year contract to keep him around for many, many years, too.
