Took a step back the following year and got canned by an AD who didn’t like that Mario threw him under the bus by calling out how the AD wasn’t committed to funding a winning program.

Took over an 0-12 program who’s Coaches offices were FEMA portable trailers. Got them to 8-5, best season in that awful program's history to that point. Took a step back the following year and got canned by an AD who didn’t like that Mario threw him under the bus by calling out how the AD wasn’t committed to funding a winning program.

Saying that Cristobal was not a household name and did not have a great track record as an HC before proving himself at Oregon as an example of a good coaching hire has really thrown the Duck fans for a loop.
