Me telling you that there is no political will to shrink government is actually me being agnostic about the goal of small government. I'm gonna be fine either way. People confusing entitlements - something to which a payment was made in consideration for something else - with handouts.
Feel free to give me back all the payments made into the 'trust fund' and compensate at a market rate of return for said contribution.
Or be truthful about 'entitlements' as what they are - a government rip off for 40 years of labor when the capital could have been deployed more efficiently.

I am simply accepting the reality that government will not shrink. And I'm not as easily taken in by highly publicized cuts to teeny tiny portions of the budget as you all are. I don't shriek about them either.
If you want to give the middle finger to the Boomers and slash Social Security, that would be brave and a real, meaningful cut. But beyond the upheaval that would yield, it would also turn the country Blue for decades and it ain't happenin'.

The Trump administration’s claim that it is saving billions of dollars through DOGE-related cuts to federal contracts is drastically exaggerated, according to a new POLITICO analysis of public data and federal spending records.
Through July, DOGE said it has saved taxpayers $52.8 billion by canceling contracts, but of the $32.7 billion in actual claimed contract savings that POLITICO could verify, DOGE’s savings over that period were closer to $1.4 billion.
Despite the administration’s claims, not a single one of those 1.4 billion dollars will lower the federal deficit unless Congress steps in. Instead, the money has been returned to agencies mandated by law to spend it.
