I had checked in on him and asked how he was doing. I said that I missed him on the boards and hoped he was doing okay

He thanked me for checking in, but then said he's never coming back to HH. He said I betrayed him. He said that I allowed people on here to taunt him and to also taunt disabled veterans. He said I didn't do enough to stop people from posting photos of flaming wheelchairs and the like. He also said he got tired of the same 5 idiots hijacking all the threads. He also said his intellect is too superior for what we have going on here.

And so... I'm sorry that it didn't work out. When Pup was in his prime (2014-2017), no other poster on here made me laugh as hard.

I guess his legacy will be a bunch of Pupisms like "Close the gates!" and a few others.

In honesty I think he's making excuses for old age slippin in his brain. He should have been able to take the heat and I think he could but his posting had become a sliver of the genius he used to throw down with ease. Too bad he went out blaming you and the board Derek. He's my all time favorite for original content and hilarity.

I wasn't here during his zenith, I must have come around just as the sunsetting was really start to enfeeble his brain, but there were multiple times I wanted to ask if I was supposed to take him seriously or if he was a really committed Andy Kaufman/Tony Clifton-esque character, and in the latter case to what degree we were to play along. There was this mythology around him as a great poster, but all I ever saw was a confused semi-literate, semi-coherent old man full of empty bombast.

I think having not witnessed the precipitous decline, I'll prefer to remember him as the Neil Hamburger of hardcore husky, the unfunny comedian who is the only guy not in on the joke, but maybe he was and was JUST THAT GOOD.
 
First off, real talk, love or hate Pup he was a HCH institution so if this departure is permanent it marks the end of an era.

I’d always flip back and forth from feeling deep compassion for the man one minute to rolling my eyes at his idiocy and overblown sense of self-importance the next.

There will never be another like him.

So @puppylove_sugarsteel, if you’re reading this, thank you for the entertaining poasts... I will always treasure my “Soup” moniker.
