I just wandered over to ShaggyTexas for the first time in ages

Their former owner helped me with lots of advice when I was creating Hardcore Husky back in 2012.

I just went over there to see if they were doing anything innovative or new. I was shocked to see that their board is dead. Nothing going on at all.

I know nothing about the site but this thread appears to be talking about what happenedhttps://www.surlyhorns.com/board/index.php?/topic/605-shaggytexas-handover/&

(Still not sure what happened but this is a good read, apparently scat gifs were involved)

The poster named Eastwood said:

I think there was a lack of realization that Shaggy was a collection of ~500-1,000 friends and acquaintances that generated content that occasionally garnered national attention, but was mostly an excuse to hide from wives, kids, and work and occasionally get together to eat, drink, and play casual sports. If the site generated positive cash flow off of that, great, but positive cash flow wasn't the main goal of Shaggy.

That is worth its weight in gold. Gold, Jerry.

When traffic for Hardcore Husky shot way up, the ShaggyBevo owner offered to host it for free on his network if he could keep any advertising profits. But I didn't want to relinquish control of the site.

Stalin > Larry Scott, poast of the decade.

ShaggyBevo's (later renamed Shaggy Texas) decline is directly attributable to:
1. Charlie Strong making Texas Longhorns football irrelevant.
2. ShaggyBevo poster Thujone ending his hilarious MSPaint artistry.

Isn't this also where some awesome photoshop work used to be posted?

There was a legendary photoshop thread from the time Lamichal James cried at Disney's space mountain

My favorite, which I haven't been able to find in a few years, is the one where they photoshopped him crying in the spinning tea cup ride.

Didn't they lose a copyright suit and were forced to start a new site?

No, they changed the name from Shaggy Bevo to Shaggy Texas after that Portland Trailblazer guy took over as Texas AD and threatened them with legal action.

The Shag (& Land Thieves) died when an investor sued and won. Supposedly when asked in court how much his website was worth the site creator said “about tree fiddy.” Surly Texas was launched by a friend of the Shaggy Bevo guy the same time the servers were being handed over to the successful plaintiff.

Looks pretty active.

Nothing special.

they had some poast on there about some guy going to a ut/UA basketball game and passing out in the back of a pickup. Sometimes I try to find it.
