@haie Unfortunately, UW needs their money to compete so you better find a way to get them onboard.
That's on you for not paying attention. Bryant, Davis, Williams and Lane are all Huskies recruited out of HS and are all entering their third year in the program. Where have you been? Audric Harris is in his second year and played as a true freshman, Durftoe is in his third year at UW. Just admit you don't care because there are many players you can watch grow and develop if you look. Fish has said many times he wants less and less portal additions every year. He wants what you and I both want. Recruit them, develop them, pay them, keep them. The program is rebuilding through recruiting but they had to take 50+ players the last two years because you can't play a team of strictly first and second year guys and compete. If Judd loses a bunch of starters that are "his guys" after this season and next then I'll possibly start to check out but UW aint there yet. You've got to admit the circumstances after the Deboer exit were catastrophic, then pair it with Jimmy's last shitty class and DeBoers first shitty class and you're in a pickle in terms of sheer numbers. It's getting better, open yo eyes Worshington!I don't know either.I honestly don't know who these dudes are. Looks like I need to do my own research.
Part of the fun of CFB was watching the roster grow organically. Guys might play as a RS freshman, then start as a so. Now it's everyone for themselves, transfer to Texas A&M. Wait, Clumpson will pay me more to endorse nail polish. Let's go there. I am not going to bother to invest time in rosters that turn over by 50 or 55 guys each year.
The penny pinchers here haven't been spending since before the Petersen tenure anyways and the stimulae in front of me all last season says that that's a small minority of older fans. Sorry.@haie Unfortunately, UW needs their money to compete so you better find a way to get them onboard.
Penix was the best pure passer I've seen in my lifetim. Passes I've never seen completed. Ropes. Dimes. All the cliches.Just straight up blaming the portal in 2025 if you bought in for 2022-23 as a UW fan is kind of hypocritical. No portal. Fine. No Penix and Dylan Morris is DeBoer's QB those seasons. Good news! DeBoer is probably still here and has a record a lot like Sark's when he was here.
We've had a worst of all time run after a great of all time run of shit that specifically mostly has to do with the modern landscape of college football, but if we get rolling again, especially as soon as 2025, we should be bought in.
I think some of the stuff like the portal and NIL may calm down a bit outside of QBs too.
The script this year is that Washington loses a heartbreaker to Buck, this site gives up on the season similar to 2022 after ASU, and then they win some close games including Oregon and then everybody's back just in time for Jedd to lose a NY6 bowl or playoff game.Last year was an exhibition season thanks to the exodus. Great home games horrible road performance
I don't think it has a lot to do with this year. Year 2 is big as always
Fisch has the tools now, can he use them
We? have always been impatient. That's why we're not at dogman. But a consequence of pay for play and multi million dollar coaches has made a lot more fans impatient
No 5 year plans or wait until he gets his guys in there
NFL fires coaches every two or three years that don't make the playoffs. It's the tradeoff for getting paid a lot
I agree with the consensus that beating buckeye will light it up
I'm interested.
Better seats for me!!I'll often watch, because it's football, if it's on tv and for free.
But I no longer bother to follow what's happening before the games start.
They've improved college football so much that I don't really care that much anymore.
A lot of the players have been here that are key, Demond, Boston, etc.Yes but also it would be nice for players to stick around long enough to follow their development and root for them as a familiar unitAll these are good reasons but winning is a great cure. Pretty sure Columbus and Austin are amped up for the opener
The great exile combined with a lack of faith in getting back has a damper on things as well
Again the cure is winning. Big season this season is
After getting to summit of the Mountaintop and losing in Houston, my apathy for husky football is the same as many are saying in this thread.Coming so close to the natty, and then getting kicked in the nuts with DeBoer leaving, definitely took the wind out of this place
It'll bounce back. If Vanilla doesn't fuck things up.
If you had asked the long time poasters here if they really thought UW would play in a title game again in our life time, the unanimous answer would be "no".
To be 14-0 with that opportunity, to have it end the way it did…sucked
Ironically the thread born of pointing out that football talk is scarce has developed some of the best football talk this month. What are you wanting to talk about @DerekJohnson
There's a lot of reason to be optimistic on the season but there's also some unknowns to pump the brakes with
Personally, I think it's very possible to be a CFP contender this year and I'd love to be 9-2 for the Oregon game with so much on the line
CBS Sports Network in their Big10 preview had the win %'s of our toughest games as:
Oregon - 35%
Ohio St - 39%
at Michigan - 42%
at Wisconsin - 69%
Illinois - 75%
Knock off Ohio St early (and there's a very good case for an upset being more than possible) and things go full DOOG quickly
I'm all for staying under the radar at this point … best to get Ohio St not thinking too much of their trip West
This thread has happened every single August every single season since the COVID year.We will always have a core of guys that developed in the system and will be paid accordingly then there will be the guys that have underperformed and didn’t pan out that Fisch will have to send to Idaho, then there will be a few tweener guysm that go after bigger bags because they feel slighted. The NFL shit Fisch is pedaling is a good model for keeping a core nucleus together to win games and improve draft stock because NFL is indeed > NIL.
NIL and all this branding shit will not be the demise of the game as some of us have told y’all. Things will equalize and you better buckle up for a playoff run soon. It’s all entertainment, I still think college ball is more of a team sport than pro, I’ll still watch both but with different expectations
You love free things, shocking.I'll often watch, because it's football, if it's on tv and for free.
But I no longer bother to follow what's happening before the games start.
They've improved college football so much that I don't really care that much anymore.
