Wow, the bomb cyclone hit Seattle hard.
I had an Idea for cleaning up downtown Seattle also.
Just Look at how much it costs to sweep homeless camps labor, truck, fuel, etc.
Bounty on trash just like a recycling center…pay x per lb per category. The streets would literally clean themselves and the garbage cans would always be empty.
Of course I've identified some serious drawbacks/ negatives that would eventually rear their ugly head but in concept it could work.
High paid garbage men might have an issue with the new competition

Build meaningful temporary tiny-home housing w/ drug/alcohol tests, social worker requirements, and job requirements/opportunities that flow money/labor back to local and state coffers. Have a baller support system and legit community. Have basketball courts, racquetball courts, even tennis. This isn't a prison. This is the best shit to ever happen to you. Friends can still bring their racquets and ball. You can leave. Fuck up this opportunity though and you're back on the street. If you don't fuck up, the first year in this tiny home is on us. Save that money. The second year you're gonna pay rent with that job we hooked you up with (or another if you found something better) and you're gonna prepare yourself for the two-year mark when we kick you the fuck out. You can leave earlier if you want though. You're a clean, functional member of society now thanks to compassion and real solutions. Go forth. We have other people to help now. Also you're not allowed this opportunity again, ever.

I also propose that each tiny-home rehab community is funded to form football teams that play football against eachother, nicknames, logos and all, in order to establish a sense of camaraderie and purpose within the respective communities, in service of a greater purpose for all.
Lake City rehab v. Lynnwood rehab at Lumen Field in the championship game, imagine. Charge fans. Hype it. There are no losers. They will pay to see this wholesome shit. All those funds will go back towards helping more people get off the street. I'd be a huge Lake City fan because I am 1/2 Lake City.

Tell the homeless to gtfo of the city limits and provide a place in the boonies where they can live in tents. Maybe even some sort of work camp or something idk.
Hell of a lot cheaper than building gay tiny homes for all of them. They can get clean on their own time. Work will set you free or something like that.

Most of these people are drug addicts and/or have severe mental health issues obviously. We could use a homeless czar in the mode of Sheriff Joe camps (not jail but in bfe) Federal Authority over each state w/incentive's tied to Federal Funds. The sidewalks in downtown San Diego are gross near the trolleys, you need to walk around tent cities on the sidewalk. We rarely go through there, I don’t love baseball but I used to enjoy Petco. Guessing I last attended a game in 2005ish.
