Ok so here’s a hypothetical. If Haener comes in against Cal and leads a TD drive or a field goal drive or just doesn’t shit the bed and throw a pick six to Boss Baby let’s say Pete keeps him as the starter the rest of the way that year does anything change?

Does He keep the job in 2019 over Eason?

Also I’m aware that 2018 thrown to the wolves Haener is different than 2021 Haener. I’m also aware I think Gaskin was team Browning and that might have factored into Browning keeping the job despite talk that Haener outplayed him in camp and I thought that was fair.

I'm not convinced that Gaskin was Team Browning. I think his shows of support was him being a good teammate, nothing more.

Fuck yeah. Some of us who were in the know remember some of Haener's 2013 performances lighting it up with the Los Cerros Middle School Panthers. I distinctly remember one crisp fall Friday afternoon, sitting in my lawn chair on the sideline, and thinking "this kid is the real deal. Browning better be looking over his shoulder in five years".

I doubt it. They came in together and made the playoff in year two. The team took off with them playing big roles.
