That was a wonderful post Derek. Brought back feelings when my dad passed 15 years ago. I read it at work and was worried that someone would come in and see my tears. Best wishes for your recovery.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Never forget Those last few words from you Dad were spoken in full clarity and from his heart. He knew exactly what he was saying even if for just a few seconds.
Your dad's greatest gift was with him until the very end.
Easier said then done, but it's now time to focus on your health and well being.

This was a tough read, so sorry for your loss and wish you the best going forward. Thanks for your efforts here, this place has taken my mind off shitty life’s circumstances, even for a few minutes, it helps.

A beautiful tribute to a great man and good father Derek ~ clearly one of life's greatest gifts is the love and the lasting heartfelt feeling that comes from the knowledge that your dad truly loved you as you remember the many acts of generosity that were intended to make that clear to you. Go in peace brother.
 
On a side note, I will add that one thing that has helped me through the past couple of weeks has been… Bill Burr videos on YouTube, as strange as that may seem. If I ever meet Bill Burr I will tell him about it.

Yes I saw that. Had it been 2-3 weeks from now I would go. I think he performed on Oct 4th. I saw it advertised each day on the EQC marquee as I drove to St Jospeh's to see dad.
 
My condolences on the loss of your father. That was a beautiful narrative about his last few weeks. I hope you find comfort with friends and family, as well as this hive of scum and villainy.

I also wish you the best in your fight against cancer and hope you make a full recovery. Swag fans need you!
