Husky Jacks open thread [2025]

I still can't fathom deciding to play collegiate football and being afraid of contact. I mean, wouldn't you decide after high school "this might not be for me". And yet it was plain as day that both Asa and Peter Sirmon's kid were purposefully taking on blocks or running away from plays

Disagree on Sirmon. He just had shitty instincts, especially in the open field. Asa was just a puss.

Agree. I just think Sirmon wasn't very good. Poor athleticism and instincts that really showed up in the open field.

Sirmon was just so stiff. His hips were definitely not supple. Although I’ll admit he looked down right fluid compared to Kyler Manu. Gregory sure could pick ‘em.

Remember I was next to Ol Dick Baird at the 2019 Stanford debacle and he was losing his shit about the linebackers. His line was "they look like thumpers, but they're not." He had to go walk the concourse by halftime because he couldn't handle watching anymore.
I saw one of our cornerbacks who won't be named last year while rewatching Penn State and Oregon who had flagrant examples where he could have made plays on the ballcarrier and instead just softly took on a block instead and the play go by him for touchdowns. Shocking we got embarrassed in both those games.

Mickens, Marvin Hall (shoutout Legion of Zoom) and Baccellia having longer/better NFL careers than Ross and possibly Pettis is not something I saw coming. Wasn't Baccellia the one who jumped out of bounds on an easy TD against Cal?

YES!!! I was just saying this to my buddy a mere two hours ago. How do you not plant a toe??? I have a long memory for plays that essentially lose ballgames. Speed option on the goal line and Vincent Holmes running onto the field while the ball was still live will also be hard for me to forget.
