He has been about average... He played fine against Stanford
The DL (Bronson and Tuli esp) getting their shit pushed in, the terrible scheme, and Asa still being a soft pussy are much more of a problem.
Just rewatch Stanford's first drive; interior DL diving gaps instead of playing disciplined, Tuli and Bronson getting manhandled on every play, Safeties 300 yards off the LOS and still backpedaling on the snap, We called a 10+ yard 8 man zone on 3rd and 6, Put Sirmon in man coverage in the slot without safety help on another 3rd down, we put only 6 guys in the box against 8 for Stanford on 2nd and short on the 15 yard line, the DL lined up incorrectly against stanfords goaline package with an extra OL.
These mistakes/issues were repeated over, and over, and over again for the entire fucking game

Sirmon has been bad. Lake knows it. He answered a probably stupid question to get done with it. Maybe he said it to give Sirmon confidence too because he’s not a guy that looks to have a ton.
He’s not going to say he sucks. He also said he really likes the talent at DL after they got dominated all game long and have most of the season.

clock is at 4:38, there was confusion before the snap but shit, get lined up, make our reads, and make a play. plus, be aware of the playclock, its ticking down, ball has to get snapped, dont get caught flat footed.
two seconds after the balls been snapped, he's still here, having his own player blocked into him, while tree breaks off a big run.
i do hate to 'bash the kids' and im sure he's a very nice young man, and its a cool story his dad played at oregon, now coaches at cal, and now hes at UW. but im just not seeing it from him, im sorry.

Smalls has edge contain and dives inside (he did this a bunch which is why they liked running delayed draws to his side)
Gordon has the next outside contain and dives inside also
This outside edge is not Sirmons responsibility, he is correctly filling the inside lane against this draw before Smalls and Gordon fuck it up, this is a bad play to pick on him for.
Also, note how we line up in a light 3-3 defense (only 6 in the box) against Stanford 7 in the box...
Easiest fucking check into a run of that QBs life time.

Note to uw offensive staff. They choose to not draw 10 defenders into the box. Notice they are in shot gun and 11 personnel and still run effectively.

It looks like Gordon understood his responsibility as covering the TE for a pass play, which turned into a block. UW obviously was guessing pass because they sent Elijah on a blitz.
Seems like a SMalls issue.
