Fautanu pretty much has a starting spot sewn up for 2020 IMO. I thought he'd end up inside but he's so fucking quick he can play anywhere. The tackle spots both open up after this year.

I think he will be the best OL we have had under Pete.

"He's that smart."

He's not Elijah Molden.

Lake blundered!

That's nice. The safeties got worked today. Elijah Molden with another interception though. Would be nice if he wasn't limited to one side of the field and could sure up the middle of our defense at free safety and prevent bombs being completed for touchdowns.

I think it's pretty clear Sirmon is beating Yanks. Position switch or couch sale imminent.

too soon

He was beating him last year. Compared to the other QBs he can't throw, just can't. Inaccuracy isn't going to fly in Pete's fucked up offense. I doubt Pete even knows what to do with a mobile QB.

Watch the second guy in the clip. He was doing this shit in practice last year too.

I think we always knew Yankoff was going to be a work in progress with his arm. I think it's way too soon to give up on him. I do agree Sirmon's ahead of him right now. That doesn't mean he'll always be ahead of him.

Pete not knowing what to do with a mobile QB is likely. My hope is that in all Bush's many travels he's picked up something in regards to using a mobile QB. We'll see.

I mean, bounce passing on an easy pass like that during a slow drill is not a good look.

Most high school QBs dont bounce pass that.

Maybe there is still time to move him to Buck, Vanilla Hammer, or FS.

It's one rep so let's not go crazy, but I've heard that he can't throw with the type of consistent accuracy that Pete is going to want.

However, at 6-4, 220, 4.5 - you think he can throw better than Marvin Hall? Well... no one can. Statistically the best passer in the history of the NCAA.

But I bet he can get to Dante Pettis levels. He is ultimately a weapon at BTE imo.

It’s one rep, but it’s basic shit that should be completed 99.9% of the time. It’s alarming. I loved Yankoff too, but the reports are he can’t throw and they look to be true.

I got my money on curne, I thought he was speacial even though he was heavier than you would like him to be.

How is Yankoff a 4 star recruit and he can't fucking throw?

It happens.

But I thought the offense was always way behind the defense at the start of camp and you have to go 6 practices and 17 interceptions before you could throw a touchdown?

Brownsox was 4 stars too he could not throw either

But he had MOXIE

Rated as a dual threat qb, which I guess gives out stars based in a sliding scale where size and underwear Olympics prowess can override passing

I don't mean to make fun though. He is an amazing athlete for a big guy who can sorta throw. I'm glad he's here. The backup always sucks at throwing in live games, so the level of threat he loses as a runner could be a saving grace sometime down the road.

Jacob Eason lined up at quarterback with the first-team offense — against the first-team defense — during an early 11-on-11 period. His first pass: A deep ball up the right sideline to third-year sophomore receiver Terrell Bynum, who caught it in stride. His second pass: A shorter completion to tight end Hunter Bryant on the run. His third pass: Another bomb, this one into the hands of redshirt freshman receiver Marquis Spiker, who beat junior cornerback Keith Taylor on the play and didn’t break stride as he made the catch.

Aside from the completion to Spiker, Eason’s best throw might have been the laser he completed across the field to fifth-year senior receiver Chico McClatcher for what appeared to be about a 20-yard gain. McClatcher ran his route from right to left, and Eason, standing near the right hash, put it right on him. It wasn’t the biggest gain of the day, but it was exactly the kind of throw that separates Eason from quarterbacks with less lively arms.

More notes from Caple:

- Haener had big completions to Ozzy, Otton, and Kizer.

- Deep ball by Haener to Bryant was broken up by Cam Williams, yet Bryant nearly made a circus catch.

- Sirmon hit Bynum deep who wrestled it away from Gordon.

-Spiker had a great day with reliable hands and YAC.

- Chincredible looked good.

- Potato is up to 285 and will try and be 290 by fall camp. Is focusing on pass rush and pressured Skinny today.

- OL was Trey, Watty, Harris, Jax, and Hilbers, with Norgaard rotating at C and Bain rotating at RT.

- Second team OL was Roberts, Ale, Mele, Curne, and Bain. This is the second straight day Mele has taken reps at C.

- DL rotates a few looks like Scrempos, Tuli, Levi / Potato and Clark / Scrempos and Taki / Levi, Tuli, and Bronson.

- Welly and Manu again at ILB, Tryon and Bowman at OLB.

- Taylor and Molden at CB, Bryant at Nickel, McKinney at Safety and guys rotating the second Safety spot.

- Gordon apparently looking really fucking good at 2nd team CB.

- Bandes out with a medical that Kwat called “nothing serious”.

Going to be really awkward, but really funny, if the offense is suddenly good and the defense sucks ass.

all while figuring out a new and exciting way to go 10-3.
