He's making throws that no one outside of maybe Sirmon can throw on this roster. He is also throwing a fraction of the picks of "Banked Reps" Haener. He will be the starter. Cook that shit.

Anything else at this point is insanity. There is no justifiable way you can start Haener now with these reports coming out.

It's not over for Haener 2020, so I think he sticks around. Eason prob goes pro, and hopefully Sirmon or Morris take the job, but Haener will again be the incumbent. I dont think Huard starts day 1 if one of these guys does a good job in 2020. Huard redshirting wouldnt be terrible, then starting as a RS frosh or soph.

I think Yankoff should switch positions.

Neither he nor Fuller can break a tackle or fight off tight coverage but he has more speed and quickness than Fuller giving him more versatility- namely the ability to get open deep. With Eason's arm I'd like to see more Baccellia and less Fuller.

I'm definitely not going to be responsible for all the haught takes he's made about the position and I've definitely been in the "the secondary will be fine" camp but there's a minor point of shall we call it, "room for improvement" with safety depth and I think most of us recognized it even if we didn't go full retard over it.

This is why I found all the hand ringing and meltdowns the last few weeks fucking laughable. This was never a competition. Haener was never going to start.

Eason has elite physical tools but hadn’t seen live action in nearly 2 years. Haener was a dutiful backup last year and Pete was going to give him the first team reps he “earned”. Eason was always going to be eased back into the reps because he hadn’t “earned” anything yet and it wasn’t going to be given to him.

But to meltdown in fucking April because Haener was getting the majority of the first team reps was fucktarded. Haener could have had the first reps all spring and Eason would have still taken the job from him by the end of fall camp. After 30 practices Eason always would have emerged victorious. Haener has the mindset but he was not blessed by God to have the physical tools.

Pete may be loyal, and he may have started Browning for 4 years, and he may have given last years 2nd string QB the first chance at reps because he earned it. But there was and is zero fucking chance he was going to accept Eason as a transfer (when he rarely takes transfers) and not give the kid with the highest ceiling the job.

Pete may be stubborn and may learn slowly, but he always learns and adjusts. And 4 years of a physically limited QB stunting the offense was a long enough lesson.

Yes I did. My whole fucking point was Jimmy's shit safety recruiting putting us in a desperate situation in which we need a Freshman to play at a high level for us which is rare. Go back and read the fucking script. And yes, if Kyler and/or Molden had been moved to safety when they showed up we would be fine at safety. We'd just be concerned about the lack of depth at corner instead.

Still another body, and he sure as hell hit like a safety. You can throw Bryant back into safety and slide one of the many DBS to Nickle. The depth was there.

Also Jimmy lake seems to have a knack for recruiting Frosh Safety game ready (Budda,Rapp). With guys like Asa and Cam coming in every year I sort of expect at least one to be ready.

I'm definitely not going to be responsible for all the haught takes he's made about the position and I've definitely been in the "the secondary will be fine" camp but there's a minor point of shall we call it, "room for improvement" with safety depth and I think most of us recognized it even if we didn't go full retard over it.

By the time we get to 2019 Spring Camp the "Process" of building depth is over. There is nothing to be done for 2019.

Yet there goes Ballz on Day 1 of Spring Camp complaining about the half-baked result of our initial alignment. As if it wouldn't change as the best players emerged.

Yes, I was not as concerned the recruiting years leading up to now at safety because we recruited a bunch of DB's who played safety in high school and could play safety for us. Then Jimmy Lake decided not to move those certain guys over to safety and kept them at corner. I don't have a fucking crystal ball asshole. I don't know what decisions Jimmy Lake is going to make with his personnel and what positions they're going to play for him.

And yeah I was complaining Day 1 of Spring camp because the "best players" that we needed to emerge would have to be Freshman because we have nobody else. The likelihood of Freshman being able to immediately play at a high level is low. Therefore, my concern at the time was logical. But we got lucky with Cam Williams so that's nice.

What the fuck is Jimmy doing at Safety?[/b] I expected Molden to move over to free safety because he doesn't have ideal corner length but he does have probably the highest football IQ in the secondary, 4.4 sideline to sideline speed, ball skills, instincts, good tackling ability, and probably wouldn't be a huge drop off from Rapp.

But no, instead Molden is still at corner and he starts Spring ball off with Gilchrist running with the ones who's A HUGE FUCKING DROP OFF from Tayler Rapp and the only guy he moved to safety so far is Julius Irvin who's coming off a redshirt and has barely played. On top of that, McKinney is iffy in pass coverage and looked lost against Ohio State. Dude, WTF? I'm really nervous about both safety positions. I could see them getting taken advantage of and giving up big plays over the top this season. Fuck.

I said we were fucked at safety unless a true Freshman or RS Freshman stepped up big-time for us. Well, one of them has. Good for us.

Coaching doesn't matter if the talent, depth, and/or experience you have at that position sucks. Budda and Sidney got torched as true Freshman. Did Lake not know what he was doing then and yet we still sucked. It's a similar situation at safety right now. I have a strong feeling Gilchrist sucks ass. We are fucked at free safety if it's either Gilchrist or a Freshman starting for us.[/b] Obviously Lake fucked up somewhere recruiting that position because we don't have a RS Junior, sure fire, future NFL stud to replace Rapp that nobody is worried about.

Things change all the time. The likelihood of Cam Williams basically coming in and playing like Taylor Rapp did as a true Freshman was extremely low. But that's what he's done so far so we're extremely lucky and dodged a bullet. Good for us. The point stands. We were fucked until we got lucky.

Process vs. Results

It's shitty process to rely on a Freshman to come in and play like a game changer even if we ended up with good results this time(which is still TBD btw).

We should have at least 2 guys of Cam Williams level talent battling it out for the open starting spot and they both should have already been in the program a year, redshirt or otherwise.

Though I also realize there are some mitigating factors that you can defend the process from but there is a reasonable poont of criticism buried in there.

Except Ballz was complaining about results of a cake halfway through baking.

He had no complaints about the process of making that cake (recruiting of safeties.)

In fact in the Julius Irvin thread he said we were fine and didn't need Irvin because Molden or Kyler could move to safety.
