Shit mang. I was drinking Trappist ales in Antwerp beer halls while you were still on you Mom's tit!BLUF: Go to Bruges and Ghent
I went to UW and lived in Seattle during the early craft beer times (Red Hook was independent!!! They made a rye…)
I live in England now, but I tend to gravitate to German beer (Hefeweizen is my #1 overall - BTW Pyramid Wheat is good AF). Belgium is an outlier of beer goodness, but almost in their own world (like gose and sour, if I had to make a corollary).
England makes good fucking beer. Mostly Ales. Even their IPAs (which are ales) wouldn't register with the Seattle IPA palette.
As a rule, hate fruit beer. Belgium will change you. Their cherry and raspberry beers are so fucking good. Go to Bruges and Ghent (super underrated destinations - TRUST ME). Mussels and French fries are the national dish.
I happen to like pine cone beers. BUT - it is crazy when I visit my parents that 95% of the section is 7% IPAs.
I like pine cone beers, but only one is needed
Belgium is the highest quality beer on the planet.
