How a real school operates

Year one: 7-5(4-2), 4th in conference

Year two: 9-3(4-3), 4th in conference ranked 17th in both polls

Year three: 10-2(6-1), T-1st in conference ranked 7th and 9th.

Goes 26-10 and 14-6. Did he get an extension? Nope. He was fired because he was 0-3 against his rival.

That was Bill Curry for Bama from 1987-1989. Gene Stallings took them to 11-1 in year two finished ranked 5th then won a national title in year three.

Alabama after Bryant left had Perkins for four years, Curry for three then Stallings won a national title in his third year. Throws that "coaching stability" myth out the window.

Florida was in some turmoil prior to Spurrier's arrival with sanctions and having lost 5+ games four seasons in a row. In year two he had them live in the top 10.

If you want to win you have to be cut throat and ignore this bullshit coaching stability myth. Oklahoma with Stoops should have ended that dumb myth once and for all.
 
Coaching stability has been debunked more times than the flat earth. At some point it's time to move on without those too stupid to face facts, rather than keep trying to spoonfeed those who willfully believe a lie.

If Seven turns things around and starts posting double-digit win seasons, it won't be because of "stability." It will be because, after a four-year internship, he has finally learned how to be a head coach and get the guys he's got to consistently perform.
 
Coaching stability becomes important once you hire the right coach. Until you do that, you follow the Oklahoma pre-Bob Stoops example.

Rephrased: If your coach does not suck after 3 years, you keep him for 2-3 years, after which you reevaluate whether or not he sucks and either extend or fire. Caveat: if he does something FS such as hire and perpetually fuck while on the job a graduate assistant/freshman psyche major, be certain every individual who has knowledge of the situation is DIAFF and is buried or door.ass.out.

He responded by accepting a job offer to become the head coach at the University of Kentucky.

So he wasn't fired outright, but Alabama made him somewhat of a lameduck if he wanted to stay.

True but normally when you go 10-2 like he did you get whatever the fuck you wanted. He was a bum coach though who was 0-3 against his rival so the school was fine if he were to LEAVE!

Even the big schools aren't immune to fucking up, but they are decisive very quickly if the coach does not win. I'm somewhat surprised Kiffin made it out of last year.

That right there is what makes them a serious football school. They realized they fucked up and made sure to fix that mistake.

Mike Shula in year three was 10-2 ranked 8th in the country. In year four he went 6-6 and was rightfully fired.

Mike DuBose in year three was 10-3 ranked 8th. In year four they go 3-8 and he was rightfully fired. Dennis Franchione was only there for two years after him then Shula then Saban.

From 1997-2006 Alabama had gone through Dubose, Franchione, Price, Shula then Saban. No stability at all until they finally hit.

That is way to do it. Two of those coaches they fired after year four when in year three they were ranked in the top 10.

Yes, they don't tolerate mediocrity for long, but they lucked out getting rid of the king of poop island as quickly as they did.

Big Boy football programs do not fuck around. This is simple shit. Hire and fire guys on 3-4 year intervals until you hit the jackpot.

We are in year 5, and there is no fucking jackpot at the end of Sark's rainbow (75K).
