almost becomes a little pointless to even sign HS recruits
it would be interesting to see the number of starters of the teams in the playoffs that were actually high school signees

It's actually more than you might think for most of the name brand teams. We will see what it looks like in a few years.
Part of the problem here I could see is Fisch hiring a DC who had a really good chance to only be here for one year, maybe two.
 
Just recruit only 3*s - it's a waste of time to recruit any 4*s, just buy the starters through the portal. Back-load their NIL $ deals in 2-3 year contracts + bonuses if they become a starter. If they leave early, they don't get most of their salary and bonuses. Entering the portal, immediately nullifies your 2-3 year NIL deals and earned money.

The top 5 richest schools will win the NC 80% of the time. This Yankeeization of college football will kill it. The Yankees have killed off most MLB fans.
Imagine if Deion Sanders leaves Colorado. They'll lose 80% of their "devoted" players overnight.
 
Seems like the entire recruiting department can be laid off and that money can go towards buying players in the portal. I'd rather have proven commodities if this is how things are going to be.

If they don't want to sign at least a 2 year deal, they will obviously leave in the next portal window for more money = wasted time and effort on them. Give bonuses if they become a "top" player stat-wise.
