Disagree! DTs we had a big issue for a year in crootin, while we had Gaines and Vea destroying everyone...and the issue was resolved in a major way in the next cycle (last year), and looks to now be a future position of major strength (this cycle)....DL looks like the DB room going forward...we are now on year 4 of no major Buck signings except maybe Ngata, but that is being generous because he wasn't some all world kid, and Tryon, who we lucked into and may or may not be great. Buck recruiting is without a doubt the single worst spot we have recruited at, and it has been going on for years....hell, even with all our OL crootin sucking for 3 years with Strausser at least the product on the field was pretty good...we have had some decent players the last few years with Feeney and Littleton and of course Jamora, but overall I'd say pressure from the edge has sucked ass for a few years now....and we have NOBODY in the pipeline to fix it if Ngata or Tryon don't pan out.

It's fucking abysmal...and we have once again recruited NOBODY this year, so no help is on the way when Ngata and Tryon are upperclassmen and LEAVE!

We're also talking recruiting so fast forward 2-3 years. If Ngata is a stud he may be gone. Who else do we have to replace him?

One is not enough. And Tyron, in his brief appearances, looks amazing. But two isn't enough either.

To be where we want to be, they need to be getting a minimum three edge pass rushing types with big upside every two years and no less than one a year. Some will outgrow the position, some will end up being more traditional outside LB types, and some will just not pan out.

I get excited about individual players, but the goal is to be at a place where the success of a team or unit doesn't depend on a single guy developing in a best-case-scenario way.

We? will never sign a buck, but in all seriousness if we? land a surprise like Latu or To’oto’on it wouldn’t even be that much of a shock considering how strong the class is, and how we? finished last years recruiting cycle. At this point in time, I’m more concerned with the product on the field, because that will sell the last few holdouts better than being better salesman than Oregon.

We have 3 recruiters that fuck on major level. Unfortunately they don’t recruit WR, LB

If you had to pick what positions you wanted your best recruiters I think we have them at 4 of the 5 most important spots. You'd probably rank them something like this (with 2-4 being somewhat interchangeable).

This bored is[/s] Some poasters are[/b] bi-polar. When we get good news (Buelow makes it official!) we talk about the potentially greatest UW class of all time. When we get bad news ("The storm is coming" never materialized) we talk about how we'll never sign a decent BUCK, ever.

Things haven't changed with me. I said this would be a monster class. It's going to be. My only concern now is that we whiff on Buck again like last year.

This whole situation with the BUCK position reminds me when HH was worried about the lack of recruiting DTs over the pass couple of years.

In the end, Gaines decided to stay an extra year and the DT recruiting picked up and HH is not worried anymore.

I have a feeling the BUCK situation will resolve itself in time.

The BUCK issues are a much longer trend than DT was.

Zion Tupuola-Fetui. Over the summer there was a couple work out clips with Tracy Ford and he looks good.

He's going to be a DT big body power type with hand in the grass, not a Ngata stand up speed off the edge type. That's what I see anyways. He'll be great but he's not what we are talking about for Buck.

Yeah he's probably not going to be a 3rd down buck, but he could easily be a base OLB. String is a base sam half the time, we can't play everyone at DT.

This conversation is aids. Pointing to a single, legit edge guy (Ngata) as evidence that we're ok at buck is retarded especially given that he's only flashed potential so far. Tryon passes underwear Olympics inspection but only plays in garbage time and hasn't done shit. Benning is a run stuffing DE not an edge rusher. Nobody else on the roster even warrants mention. Yeah it's going fine. Two guys that might be good should fix everything.

Interior DL recruiting gave us a nice class of redshirts this year. Next year's will be even more impressive but we'll be counting on the RS freshmen to comprise the entire rotation. Meanwhile we're playing this year with one legit DT on the roster with a shrunken group of defensive ends rotating inforand next to him. Yeah, DT recruiting has been stellar. So stellar that we're still two seasons away from feeling good about the depth chart.

Doogs never understand the concept of development timelines or the need for depth. One nice looking recruit doesn't solve problems at a position for a couple of years at best and probably never given the likelihood of injury and need to rotate players. A great, well rounded class of interior DL like last year's doesn't solve the problem of a bare cupboard for at least two years.

Shitty DL recruiting for two cycles precludes UW from being a national contender next year. Continued shitty recruiting at all LB positions, especially pass rush specialists, will keep hampering us for at least three more years.
