I remember my homebrew phase in 2002
I’m just glad I’ve had some phases that @MikeDamone hasn’t gone through.
I remember my homebrew phase in 2002
I brewed a lot (partial extract only tho) back when. Life got too busy with kids and haven't made a batch in at least five years. My only local supply shop closed a while ago, not even sure where I'd get the makings.
I do mostly partial extract at this point. It's just a lot less work imo for a garage set up and gets you 81% of the results. Online ordering is your fren if your local shop is closed. Online stuff has improved tremmensely in the last five or so years with competition.
Which do you suggest?
Haven't ordered online anytime recently as I support my local shop but I have frends that live in boonytownUSA who do on the regular for their supplies. I'll make some inquiries.
I go to my local shop but I like northernbrewer.com
I wasn't super excited about Northern Brewer/Midwest Supplies selling out to Anheuser Busch Inbev but whatever.

I agree with you though, I don't boycott inbev brands but I prefer alternatives when available.
TL;DR, Belgians should go back where they came from.I brewed a lot (partial extract only tho) back when. Life got too busy with kids and haven't made a batch in at least five years. My only local supply shop closed a while ago, not even sure where I'd get the makings.

Huh. TIL. It always seemed a little weird the massive company that made fun of homebrewing wanted to own a Homebrew Supply store. Some of us decided they at least found the data valuable - what people were buying and trying to make - in terms of what direction to take their next commercial offerings.
Sorry, was looking for pics of my stuff that doesn't doxx myself too much. Never put my pics online anywhere so need to look into that. I'll get to it eventually.
I'm one of those Beer Judge douchebags, helped with current style guidelines, so feel free to make fun of me for that. But, understanding that stuff did improve my brewing. In the range of 270 beer batches over 11 or 12 years, all grain. KS weather sucks so half the year I brew inside on kitchen stovetop, Brew-in-a-bag. Rest of time with actual mash tun in open garage waiting for someone to come by and ask if I'm making meth or certain my immersion chiller is a still. Every damn time. Fucking Midwest, man.
Counting mead, cider, wine, I'm over 1000 batches. Around the time Browning was trying to find a Bama player to throw it to, I had 700 gallons in my basement. Currently quite a bit less and am focusing more on stuff that ages like mead and red wine, out of necessity. 27 fermenters at last count. It's a bit of a problem admittedly, but I'm slowly downsizing.
If anyone wants a recommendation on yeast or tips for a style or troubleshooting, feel free to hit me up. @UW_Doog_Bot thanks for starting a thread - send me a massage if you want a sample shipped your way; someone's gotta drink this swill. Same goes for @GrundleStiltzkin and I suppose @Swaye since his life is over.
Currently adjusting a low-alcohol carbonated passion fruit mead to serve at a fest next month. Last year some drunk idiot made fun of my "fruity girlie beer" until I pointed out most of the women in attendance were in my line. Dumbass.
Cheers--

Gave up when you couldn't mimic Zima well enough?

Doubtful
Since @NoWarningJustDawg hasn't done it I will. With Football season right around the corner I ran out today to grab some homebrew components to brew this weekend.
I picked up stuff to make a sierra nevada style ale, a blonde, and an english IPA. I typically brew batches in groups of 3 bc that's what I've got and they fit into this nicely.

Three tap party system that I've got plans to upgrade. I'm going to make a fold down wood box with wheels for the whole thing and do a nice poly bar coat on it. That way you won't know it's a trashcan inside and it will have space for the CO2 cannister. I might add a water draw on the trash can as well to empty it when required. If we return to the Rose Bowl you can expect to see me bring this fucker. Even @backthepack and his friends can't kill the whole thing.
As for brewing I've got a fast ferment that is good, not as great as advertised but still really nice. Then a carboy and a bucket. Honestly, the bucket is probably the easiest to brew in and I've never noticed any discernible difference in quality.

Please do not send me shit for brewing. I need another hobby like we need Jack Browning back under CENTER.

In related haught talk, buddy of mine is an actual professional craft brewer(went to OSU's program) and is taking me to the California Craft Beer Summit in Sept. with him since he's got extra passes. It's kind of a big deal and it's awesome I get to attend the industry only days. I will be attempting to drink as many craft beers as possible while not embarrassing him professionally. Should be several days of good haught talk and pictures that I will poast whether you guys care or not. The wife already gave me a pass on being a poor husband and father figure for those days only asking that if I come home at 3am shitfaced that I sleep on the couch and not bother her. Good tims ahead.

Awesome. On that note, I encourage all craft beer fans to attend GABF at least once as little compares to that first walk through the doors into a giant room with thousands of commercial beers to try.
After the first tim or two though, I preferred the AHA conference. Just as alcohol-soaked, but with 3000 of your fellow homebrewers. This year's conf in RI was the first I've skipped in a decade. Already have couple seminars in work for Nashville '20. (And I'll never make the mistake of presenting without booze to serve.) It'll be Denver or West Coast in June '21.
Cheers--

I've heard great things about gabf. Tomorrow is great taste of the midwest, which I love, but would be tough to travel if you're not in the midwest.
Other than gabf I really want to get to is dark lord day.

I got it before @swaye because WA is still closer than VA even at the speed of light.
