This… if he was 4-0 and had control of locked room he could Mike Price it. But black balling (black balls do matter) him from NCAA is truly fucking idiotic. If Pete goes to USC for another run, the entire West Coast is fucked unless someone grabs Urban. College football is turning into a power grab and everyone else is playing for 3 and 4th.

Urban is old school. He wants to be a righteous dictator, and he expects his players to silently fall in line, even in the face of hypocrisy.

This doesn’t work in the NFL. At all. NFL players are grown men with agency and short shelf lives. And a lot of them earn more than the head coach—at least briefly. The Split Zone Duo guys did a nice piece on Urban this week. He’s already done in JAX.

The real question is this: When Urban inevitably returns, will he find CFB has also passed him by? Does his schtick work with college kids in 2021, amid NIL, transfer portal, etc? We know Chris Pedersen’s answers to these questions.

Nobody should pay Urban $10M. But he can probably be had next year for $7M, which is a gamble UW should—but won’t—take.
