This is just hearsay (my sources are probably shit), but word is, UW reached out to Wilcox long before the Baylor bowl game. I think it had to be known that Wilcox was looking to abandon Derek Dooley's sinking ship. Someone deserves the credit for giving him the money and getting him here. He brought a nice staff with him too.

Dumb luck does exist so people shouldn't read too far into it. It's how you allow yourself to think Mark Emmert is a good football president cause he hired Nick Saban many moons ago.

If Young was a good president he would have done that last year though.

Not saying he'll be awful like Emmert but not firing Sark last year shows they aren't good either.

There's also a different conference commissioner.

Larry Scott may hate Washington and Oregon and like to take the tennis racquet up the 2 hole (sideways), but without the TV money, UW is still second rate in position coach salaries.

There's just no way you're going to convince me that anyone in that athletic department/upper campus is prioritizing futbol enough to make the hires they did if they didn't just luck into some extra cash.
