Hey Notre Dame

That’s one way to avoid the Fucked-up LA Bowl
it also hits them where it hurts. ND is a TV draw no matter where they play because of the subway fanbase.
and they don't really need the money.
Yep. This is about the schools that feel slighted telling the Networks to go fuck themselves.
Washington got a better deal than El Paso for recruiting, and they are playing somewhat of a brand, not Utah State or UNLV, so they were never going to complain.
100%. In the category of disappointing seasoning ending prizes, I think UW got one of the better ones.
And if Jedd's explanations about youth are correct, then he needs to get asses out on the field for the extra work.
Any way you slice it, beating Boise soundly in LA and a T15 recruiting class takes the sting out of the season and gets the program headed into '26 with reason for optimism and some confidence. There are some good things happening. Will be interesting to see if Boston comes back. That should be someone's full-time job right now.

I completely agree that Notre Dame needs to be in a conference and play a CCG like everyone else or they get what they get.. just having a gold helmet doesn't carry the weight it used to. It's a new era in CFB
If they want to take their ball and go home that's their decision but it looks bad in the sportsmanship category (as a brand and an athletic program). They had a great season but came up a little short..they should compete in a bowl and finish.. Quitting is the last thing I would expect from the Irish!
- 2 for Notre Dame! Jmho

Alabama needed to show up for the CCG. I don't think they deserved the selection but 13 is more than 12 in raw SOS so I understand them getting the nod over the gold domes.
The question I have for Alabama is... Would Alabama have skipped a bowl game if ND was selected over them?

I had a tee time at 8 a.m. today but my playing partner Notre Damed me.
Beats having him fuck your armpit BYU style.

My dad and my grandpa both hated Notre Dame and felt like they always got all the breaks and favoritism. In fact, I remember a Saturday from when I was 7 and USC vs Notre Dame was on national TV. Charles White was the running back for USC. I was with my dad, grandpa William, and one of my dad's frat brothers who was also from Longview. They were all rooting for USC but I was rooting for Notre Dame, because I liked their uniforms. They booed and hissed at me all day.
All that being said, I'm not a Notre Dame guy now. I cry no tears for their fate. But I agree with Jason Whitlock's take. James Madison and 3-loss Alabama have no business being in the playoffs in place of Notre Dame and their 10-game winning streak. Society has become more about inclusiveness and equity than it is about excellence.
Notre Dame got screwed.

The bowl games are stupid. They were stupid in 2009. Bowls are supposed to be for winners, not 6-6 Sun Belt teams. Why so many on this board, which is cut throat and puts winning before life itself defends this participation trophy shit is beyond me. In the 90s you had to be good to make a bowl, or you had to be a big name that would draw fans and ratings.

I'm glad ND declined (this isn't the first time they've done so). Nobody teams like Temple, Rutgers, and Iowa State have also declined. As always, I'm sure it comes down to money, and they probably figured they'd lose 2 million dollars. This is the only way real reform will happen and these shit tier bowls sponsored by credit unions and weed wackers will DIAFF.

Who in here is defending the weak participation bowls?

I think people here like the bowl games from when there were 20-30 games, starting around December 18th or so and ending on New Years Day.

This thread aged well. No natty for SEC, again.

Can you remind me what it is that emboldens the SEC commissioner with the appropriate last name to think the SEC should have 6 to 8 teams in the playoff?

Unless something dramatic changes very soon, the SEC's glorious run has run its course. Just another good conference now. Like someone said, Buddy Bob's chain of car dealerships isn't going to compete with the @Sources of serious money that is funneling into programs outside the south. If that's all they got, they're in for it.

I myself was ready for some other names to get into the mix and look forward to more of it. How many times can you stroke your cock watching Alabama run over someone for a natty?

Look at the ratings

The SEC may fade but they're the Dallas Cowboys

1996 last title but still own the ratings
