Head Coach Jedd Fisch Postgame Press Conference: Ohio State

I won’t love Fisch until he wins, but I don’t hate him either. I think he’s a pretty good coach. It was a rough day today against a team that was better.
We are usually on the same page.

A lot of the usual doomers are acting like we lost to OSU…Oregon State.
My problem is not the loss. It's the decisions and failures that contributed to the loss and prevented UW from having a chance to win at the end. Fisch gave the game away in the first half. Totally unacceptable.

Nailed it. The game was lost in the first half. The penalty meltdown on the second drive felt like it was pulled straight out of a Sark game, and our playcalling in the red zone was fucking horrendous. The fake FG was quite possibly the worst executed trick play I’ve ever seen. When OSU scored at the end of the first half, I knew the game was over. If I hadn’t seen the game and you told me the defense gave up 24 points and the offense didn’t turn the ball over, I’d have taken that in a heartbeat and assumed we? won. The defense gave the offense every opportunity in the first half to build a lead, and Fisch absolutely pissed that away.

This is where I am at. His talent evaluation seems pretty good, they significantly played six guys yesterday under 20 years old and the team as a whole didn't play intimidated. That's a great start when he had to rebuild the roster from scratch. Last year was a mulligan year 0, this year is really where we should see what his program should be shaping into and I'm willing to let that play out.

I've seen enough of Fisch to want him fired.
Sark 2.0
I know you love the malarkey but Sark loses this game by 30. Go back and look at his scores against top 10 Oregon or Stanford. The plungers were real and painful. I was there. This game was not that. This was a bunch of freshman and sophomores getting pushed around in the second half by a talented roster recruited and developed over years. Oregon will probably be number 1 or number 2 when they cum to town. If by then Judd can't figure out a way to score TD's against them then maybe Chun needs to have a conversation about play calling with Fish. Need to see growth by this offense between now and then or I may jump off the fence I'm sitting on.

Two penalties in one series on the bench as in Fisch. Unacceptable and embarrassing. Got in the way of the ref in the white then ran on field and got another penalty as the team wonders what in the fuck and the Huskies squander momentum

Both of those and the roughing the passer penalty were godawful. Even the CBS guys were confused. Gary Danielson was like "no warning?"
Which of course I then responded with, "just gone."

He wore a gold hoodie during an advertised purple out, nuff said on that
I'm pretty sure at this point that it's an ego/organization thing where he thinks he needs a different color on and his initials on his visor and stuff.
Stuff that's awesome when you win and when you lose it just looks like you're insecure about the precise staff's success.

"Let's go out there and see what happens."

Other than Fisch trying to get too cute at times (fake FG, not giving the ball to Coleman enough), I think he's a good coach. For college football as they say, it's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. UW hasn't been stacking 4 and 5 star recruits for many seasons in a row and not only did UW go into the contest missing their starting WR, (best) starting CB, and (best) starting LB, but the starting LT and starting DE went out during the game. 5 out of 22 is 22.72% yet it's a testament to this staff that the team didn't roll over after the atrocious roughing the passer penalty. I don't see how that would even get a warning in other games because he held up, didn't take Sayin to the ground, and didn't hit him with the crown of his helmet.
Fisch and staff are definitely good recruiters and talent evaluators. 3 true freshmen started (Mills, Roebuck, and Dylan Robinson) and what UW needs is for Fisch to stick around at least two more seasons so to continue stacking talent. My guess is that he wants to be a head coach in the NFL and if he does well enough at UW, he'll get an offer (another guess is that it happens after the 2027 season).

Yep. The biggest sin is pissing away the opportunities to have Husky Stadium apply maximum pressure on the Buckeyes.
We could have scared the shit out of tOSU with a big first quarter drive with the stadium rocking. Or a good play call in the red zone.
Kudos to Jedd for having this team ready to make this a winnable game talent-wise.
Fuck Jedd for being the guy who made the wrong decisions all game long. He tripped all over his little dick for three hours.

We are a year away from our lines behind good enough to really compete with the top teams. I do see progress and that things seem to be trending in the right direction. I could be wrong. It’s still early in the year and besides Ohio State we haven’t played anyone.

I don’t love the play calling but we always complain about the play calling. We did often with Grubb in 2023 and we went 14-1. I’m in LIPO mode, but I’m optimistic Fisch can be the guy.

Nobody gets years anymore to stack anything. Talent can be bought. Win or get out

Good teams require great playcalls, great teams need only good playcalls.
Right now this is a very good team that requires great calls to beat someone like tOSU. Jedd is not up to that.
Sark, Lanning, and Day aren't great football minds but win a lot of games because have really good rosters. UW is heading that way, at least.

I do enjoy malarkey and a little hyperbole every now and again.

Dress like a putz, feel like a putz, act like a putz...
Unprofessional and a display of zero leadership. Way to screw your team.
