Band of Brothers stands on it's own as amongst the greatest series of all time, regardless of genre. Extremely well done.

Funny how the greatest WWII movie ever was an HBO mini series.

Band of Brothers probably hit closer to home than any military thing I've ever watched. My grandfather was a Captain in the US Infantry and served in France, Belgium and Germany from Aug 1944- May 1945. He wasn't airborne but got 2 silver stars, 2 bronze stars and 2 purple hearts and was in a lot of the same battles as the 101st was. He died when I was only 3 so I never got to hear the stories first hand. But watching this series was probably one of the best ways to see what it was like.
