Funny you should mention that. I had a car broken into and called the police. They told me to go online and fill out a report. I told them no, that was their job and they needed to come out and take the report. They said they didn't have an officer that could do it for a couple hours. I said fine. I'll be waiting. Cop finally comes out, first question he asks is if I have insurance. I asked what did that have to do with anything? He said they likely would never find my stuff and at least I could get it replaced. I asked him if they were going to look and he said no.

Fuck...but if I happen to forget to put on a seatbelt fucker would be johnny on the spot to give me a ticket.

And while I'd never dream of going to East St. Louis, it sounds like cop simply lost it. Even if the kid somehow got leverage on the cop prior to the shooting, I don't know how the cop can defend firing multiple shots at him when he was 10-15 yards away (from what I've read).

The looting is inexcusable because it reinforces negative stereotypes of blacks. It also saddens me that, practically each time this kind of deadly incidents happen, it seems like the parents aren't married (different last names). From what I've read, Asian-Americans and whites have the highest marriage rates and the lowest out-of-wedlock births while blacks and latinos are the opposite. Bringing a child into the world without two parents immediately puts that child behind the 8 ball and makes his / her odds of succeeding in life worse.

Everything always turns into a racial issue, but the real issue here is the nationwide militarization of local police forces. There is no more friendly neighborhood cop who protect, serve and help their community. They are being taught to patrol their streets like it's Fallujah. I read stories every day of police shooting unarmed citizens for asking why they're being arrested then lying that they were fighting back, tasering 70 year old women, shooting dogs just because they're there, tear gassing obvious peaceful protestors. It's sad.

Friend of mine and his wife were packing their car for a trip, with trips back and forth between the car and house -- in one of those gentrifying parts of Seattle... when they are almost done... they realize her purse is gone. He goes inside and uses the apple "find my phone" app to locate the phone that was in the purse... and narrows it down to 2 houses about 5 blocks away... in the same neighborhood, but in the part that is less gentrified.

They call the police, explain the situation, and that they have narrowed it down to two houses. The purse also had a fairly expensive camera in it, in addition to the iPhone.

Cops said they couldn't do anything unless a witness saw the theft... regardless of what the "find my phone" app showed.

Lazy fuckers. You can blame the ACLU all you want for making police work harder... but that is pure laziness.
 
Cops have changed along with society. In general, especially in minority communities, kids are no longer taught respect, values, etc. I would say 95% of these situations could be avoided if people shut their mouths, obeyed police commands and let the legal system do the work.

When you have to deal with animals on a daily basis, it is going to change the way you react to people.

This is a dangerous situation because the police will continue to be placed under greater scrutiny, while political correctness will not allow the discussion ever to get at the root cause.

Good question. I suppose he was thinking the cops would do that (pull the tampons out of their giners, grabbed their guns... and gone to get his wife's property back). But as you noted... this was in Seattle.

Fuck the police. People always tell me that I will be thankful for them when I need them, but that hasn't happened. The few incidents where they could have been helpful, they were nowhere to be found.

Most of them seem to be lazy assholes. They work just hard enough to meet the monthly quota in speeding tickets and other traffic offenses.

This wasn't our fault. They knew they were going to Iraq years before they went. They took anyone that wanted in from 98-2002 and in 2005 after the president rented a flight suit and put "Mission Accomplished" on a carrier they wanted us the fuck gone.

I remember the first force shaping in the Air Force was slated for 250,000 people. The Air Force only has about 300k total right now. The Army and Marine cuts were much more severe. If you got in trouble you were gone or you could volunteer to just get out, or go into the Guard/Reserve. Almost all of us went into the Guard/Reserve but that wasn't paying any bills. A ton of us went to college on the Chapter 30 GI Bill, but that thing sucked balls.

You're four years removed from high school so everyone in your age bracket is either finishing or well ahead of you in college and you're at square zero with some experience no gives a fuck about because so did every other kid in that age group.

If you had no educational aspirations wildland fire, urban fire, or cop was pretty much your best options. Luckily I learned a very specific skill that is taught nowhere and used to land a cush government job as a civilian. The bullet sponges (the majority) didn't.

Now we have a boat load of guys that played police in Iraq coming to do it here. It is what it is.
