Hardcore Husky Podcast: The BYE Week Pod

lets not rewrite history regarding Deboers recruiting… by the time he left, high school recruiting was largely done and his efforts were clearly underwhelming. The Portal period was almost done as well and he had largely struck out even when it was obvious that the team had a lot of good positions to fill for instant playing time for big time players.
From a recruiting standpoint the dawgs clearly dodged a bullet when Debo left ~ it seemed obvious to all that the 2024 team was going to have a lot of holes with no apparent momentum in recruiting which concerned all of us at the time
From what I could tell his recruiting was certainly underwhelming. But let's not rewrite history by assuming that DeBoer was running the program into the ground.
You don't need a 247 allstar team but you do need some playmakers and meat. Saban wasn't talking to the local 2 stars. The VAST majority of the board and extended other fans had massive trepidation towards his player acquisition skills
So?
Your implication was that DeBoer was running every part of the program well and that is the true revision of history

thing is, Deboer is a winner. Until he isn’t. And we will never know what could have been at UW if he had been convinced he should hang out for a while.

Washington isn't struggling with recruiting under Fisch.
They were with DeBoer because Courtney Morgan's strategy was to "out-scout people" and now at Alabama he's swinging their elephant cock around about their hardware. But that isn't going to last if DeBoer can't even compete for a conference championship appearance.
No idea how Bama is doing or will do with recruiting but they are currently T-8 in the SEC standings with Missouri and LSU still to come.
Missouri is the biggest fraud in America. The counter is Bama wins out and they're in

You're coming around on the inflated SEC, Race :)

Bill I never really had an issue with you and pup on the non Bama or Georgia SEC. They get a bump because the top teams win the playoff most of the time
I also think power is shifting or equalizing with the new era

@Canadawg
No I never said nor implied that. The man went 25-3 and I'm seeing people suddenly act like he was shit

Your completely glossing over the fact that you can be a great game day coach while also not recruiting anyone for the following years. Even DeBoer needs players. He used Petersons because he actually recruited. Two seperate skills

Agreed you're right about that

Ok glad he's gone because recruiting even though he took a 4-8 team to 25-3

No Jimmy Lake took an 8-4 team to 4-8. DeBoer took an 8-4 skilled team to 10-2. Still good don't twist but he came to a situation that had a bunch of NFL talent already

This is where you're oddly acting like it was Larry Coker 2.0 plug and play. DeBoer took a team in total disarray and led them to 25-3.

I specifically requested you not to twist

But seriously that part is fair and I agree. I am just saying it wasn't a team struggling to find talent he just took full advantage of it. Something Fisch isn't able to do IMO

There's a reason UW usually sucks
No expectations no accountability
Exactly why I shit on the people that just accept there’s some programs out there “you have to leave Washington for.” It’s ridiculous. Washington is a winner.
