Hardcore Husky Podcast: Reunited and it Feels so Good

In the last 10-14 years we've played:
Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, Michigan State, and Penn State.
So I don't think anything's really ending.
If we were going to the Big 12 or SEC I'd feel a lot differently. Shit was already getting weird and dumb with having to play Utah and fucking Colorado every single year while never getting to play USC.

The one thing that is different for sure is that the long flights back east and for other teams the long flight to Seattle. Charter flights might mitigate that effect, but we will see.

I thought you guys were talking about it more from a fans perspective, but yeah that is definitely going to be something that everyone will have to adapt to.
The recent history doesn't really tell us much. Illinois and Rutgers were inferior when we flew there and beat them. We had no offense when we went to the Big house.
Michigan State was terrible when they came to Seattle.
Oregon did handle OSU in the shoe.
But now it's a obviously consistent thing to deal with every season.

Big worries about the travel for the team in relation to competitiveness is a bit doogish but fair.

I’m in the camp that thinks the long flight thing is way overblown. If these guys were 46 year old salesmen, that would be one thing.
But 20-year-old athletes should be able to handle an extra two or three hours in the air on a road trip.

You and Woolley might be right. But I remember in the years prior to Pete Carroll, the Seahawks were something like 4-26 in their last 30 games played on the east coast with a 10AM Pacific start. So there might be something to it.
 
yeah and Carroll flipped that. It’s not a real thing. It’s a mind game and if UW has the right coach it won’t be an issue

my mind is a terrible place and it is what it is. I can’t say the majority of what I’d like in the reals so this is my safe space… kind of. I’m already standing on the line of going postal. Imagine what’d happen without this cesspool. Best $129.69 I’ve ever spent.

It is exciting being in a real conference and I kind of feel bad for Fisch that in terms of generating excitement that came easy for a lot of schools, he's fighting a major uphill battle.
18k for the Spring Game was a good sign though and he did a nice job with the roster overall. He's setting the program up well long term which points to the fact that I don't think he's planning on leaving for a long time. It's not like the NFL just comes begging these college staffs every year. Harbaugh was more of an exception.

I think this year will be lit for UW fans because of the newness. Mediocre in 2025 will kill that quickly, though.

I agree that we haven't been able to revel in the success of last season as much as we should have so allow me bring up one of the best aspects of the DeBoer era was dominating Texas. They finally put together some pretty good teams and Sark gets run over twice. We? own Texas and I look forward to claiming any wins they get in the SEC as easier wins for UW

That Holiday Bowl was much lower scoring than I remember it being. In my brain, we? lost 68-66. But then I could be getting it mixed up with the Alamo Bowl loss to Baylor. That was like 85-77.

Major Applewhite was 45 of 59 for 780 yards and 7 touchdowns
