Hardcore Husky Podcast: After Purdue Plungering, has Joey tested Doog-positive?

Fisch does have a point and Huff did him no favors by whiffing on too many guys in his last couple of years but it sounds like he is making too many excuses when he mentions more than once or twice.
I think they will be able to keep Walters at least one more year and he could get a raise with another year tacked on his contract. Oregon will definitely be a big test though they did play Michigan on the road and Michigan also has a very good running game. What has me more confident is that RS-Soph Elinneus Davis has really been coming along and RS-JR Bryce Butler is showing up more too. Combine that with ZRS flashing and Manu being able to play his 4th game of the season and UW has more depth to withstand a tough rushing attack.
I also think it's a matter of when, not if, Fisch leaves. The biggest question is what Chun will do if he happens to go 2-0 these last two games. I know, I know, this team is strange on the road and @UCLA isn't as easy as it should be for Washington but it's still a chinteresting (if not high) possibility.

Pete wasn’t great his first two years at UW. It wasn’t a tear down but almost felt like one. 2015 was an awful team to watch and to root for but the fruits of that frustration came to bear in 2016. I can see a future where the “kids” Fish talks about ad nauseam this year grow up and make a run next year to the playoffs. A comfortable win at UCLA Saturday night would crystallize that vision for me a bit. A loss would further question what they are actually doing to make the team perform so poorly on the road.

Florida and UCLA are very Fishy type jobs and don’t open up that often. If Judd doesn’t get either, which I think both are unlikely, then I think he stays for the Demond years at least. The timing for those jobs just seems off. With those two jobs off the table, it would need to be a really, really high end job or the NFL to entice Judd to move on. He’s not getting a plumb job in college or an NFL gig unless he makes a deep playoff run. That’s not next years team. I think UW, for better or worse, gets Judd through 2027 or 2028.

UW has like an 80-90% chance of beating UCLA.
We cannot fall for the trap again, DTD. We were scared of a pretty similar UCLA team last year (which probably had a lot more defensive talent) that even had a Garbers at QB, and we won fairly easily, almost 34-17. That was at home though.

They are absolute cheeks. UW will score 40 if they want.

Have to wonder, if Walters had not had the HC stunt at Purdue, would we have the attitude of "so what if Fisch leaves, offer Walters the job and we'll be fine."

Judd actually wearing UW gear at the presser. Jesus. It must have killed him

Nico is better than Garbers but I think he’s hurt. Nico can run and is tough in short yardage situations. Garbers was an average QB.

We should win. I think we will. This is an easier trip and the weather will be good, although against UCLA that might not be to our advantage. In any case, we better win. If not, more proof that the program with Fisch is rotten.

Someone like Jedd ultimately winds up as head coach at a place like Florida Atlantic University. It's the difference between him and Sark.
Cook it!

I appreciate the concluding thoughts about still cheering for a win. I think some lost sheeple see the OG half brains being pissy about poor performance/standards and take that as a cue to only be negative to the point of hoping they lose so the can wallow in it.
Great pod and keep doogin for Rãïnēy-Sålê

Call me a doog but I told myself in the depths of the 2000s that I would appreciate any kind of winning at UW. Even just getting back to a bowl game. I still think you need to maintain a high bar but I can still get joy out of blowing out a cellar Big 10 team, especially one that had shown fight against good opponents throughout the year. They weren't like a Pac-12 bad Colorado team.

I can’t ever imagine finding any pleasure with a UW loss, even when I believe the coach isn’t the right guy.

Also have a hard time believing a UW fan would get any pleasure with an L although it might prove a point. At the core we are all diehard dawgs here. Might be like taking a bet against the dawgs and although you want to win the game, if they lose at least you won some cash.
