I actually don't hate Van Halen. Not the biggest fan, they have zero songs on my starred list, but they don't suck. I'll take ZZ Top 100/100 times though.
Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman is the real definition of suck. It's a fucking nightmare.

Yeah Van Halen and I would say the same for ZZTop are bands you could not like but never say suck. Like I would never say Primus sucks even if I can't physical listen to their music. I would never understand a take of Van Halen sucks if you like Primus and not acknowledge the virtuosity of the guitar playing.
I'm prone to shit on Glen Campbell because for some reason my dad latched onto him a while back and pretty much refers to him as the greatest thing of all things constantly now. Will say I'm shocked how good of a guitar player Campbell is. Never would have guessed that.

I dig on some Glen Campbell. It's Wichita Lineman in particular that will make me want to slowly turn my wheel into an oncoming gas truck.
When I think guitar virtuosos, I trend to the acoustic fingerstyle/flatpicking side. Tony Rice and the like. No knock on the Eddie or any of the rock guitarists I love. I play acoustic and I'm biased.
