hang the banner

Was talking about this yesterday with Joey if the NCAA bans Michigan midseason the way it looks like they should have a lot of scenarios could have played out. Most likely what I think happens is Ohio State actually beats Michigan if Michigan has nothing to play for. Ohio State is undefeated and #1 seed and plays Alabama in the Rose Bowl and UW is the same with Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Like Bama/Michigan, Bama/Ohio State probably a coin toss and UW gets winner in Houston.
I like the scenario of Michigan winning all the same games but being BAN HAMMERED from post season play. Michigan would still have wanted to win all their games and probably just claim a natty.
That makes a 12-1 tOSU team the B1G champion with a loss to 12-0 Michigan. Now pick 3 of these 4 to fill out the playoff: 13-0 FSU with no QB, 12-1 tOSU which only won its conference cause Mich was banned, 12-1 Bama, 12-1 Texas.
Have to assume 12-1 tOSU is not viewed significantly different enough than 11-1 tOSU actually was, and therefore is ranked behind FSU. Win the Rose vs FSU, play the Texas/Bama winner in Houston. Hmmm.

btw this would be our second most bullshit natty after 1960

Again, it's why it's bullshit they didn't step up and quickly make Michigan ineligible before the end of the regular season. Now no one is a champion and UW, Alabama and even Georgia and Ohio State borderline have claims. I'm sure there are Florida State doogs who want to claim it too.

That's the biggest difference
UW would have had the Rose Bowl rematch with Bama

Harblaugh panics and takes a job with an inept NFL franchise before the ____ hits the fan. What a surprise. 😂
Seemed like college football desperately wanted Harbaugh out. I can definitely be convinced but felt like me Ohio State and shit was amping up some stuff that wasn't as nefarious as it's been made out to be.
I don't know. They were all in on snitching, but stealing signals to that extent is pretty bad.
I don't want their wins vacated though, even though it kind of makes sense and would "help" us.

I'm not looking it all up now, but from my anecdotal memory a good chunk of pre-BCS title claims are sketchy anyways? I think the way the game went down really sours it but yeah with UW in 2023 if Michigan vacates it you'd be able to say they only lost to the one other undefeated team (not counting QB injured FSU) who were cheaters.

I think they were a different team without their QB and didn't they pretty much boycott and quit that game?

If ASU and WSU stole our signs, it's impossible that a school with a lot more resources failed to do so, or at least figure out Grubb's tendencies.
Someone on X, in a seahawk argument of all things (he was clearly not a fan), said that Grubb/DeBoer ran, "high school plays and routes" and that a top 10 draft QB and 3 NFL receivers are the only things that make that even possible.

A ton of players sat out
That was the nail in the coffin for CFB. There's no doubt it's completely corrupt. SEC cancer.

Here's a problem with the ASU and WSU thing and possible Michigan - they were doing the whole audible thing at the LOS all the time. Especially at home, couldn't they just switch to a lot of that?
With plays and routes I could see the talent they had there allowing them to kind of just play backyard ball more than others but with things that play to Rome which saved their ass on 4th down conversion against USC, got a TD against WSU and should have gotten them a TD or a 4th down conversion against Michigan, I think they had good plays.

True. But that isn't a reason to say they were undefeated like the DAWGS

I want this to happen just so we can flaunt it over Oregon.
I won't be proud of the NC, but it will still be funny that we have 3 to their zero.

1960, 1984, 1991 all legitimate.
2023 would be sketch AF, hang it anyway.

Penix was horrible.
I was sitting there in the stadium 2 hours before kickoff and he was strutting around with his Spiderman costume..
He failed.
