I'm sure this kid is fine, but with our enormous success with DBs and Lake still at the DB recruiting helm, I'm kinda in "shouldn't we be able to do better?" mode regarding this offer

I'm perfectly fine with guys that the staff offers after seeing them in person. It's still early enough in the recruiting cycle that they aren't offering plan B kids. Lake saw him up close, they offered right away, it's still June, I think it's clear that they really want this guy.

I disagree. I think he's got the size and speed just not the technique. It's like a Seahawks DB draft pick. If we need someone to come in and start right away Hampton's not the guy. But we don't. For a high ceiling prospect who can play in 2020 I like Hampton a lot. Feels like the next Jordan Miller to me.

I think this "we can coach anyone talller than 6' into a superstar given enough time" bullshit needs to die. It's not been true for the Seahawks, and it probably won't be true for the Huskies when Lake leaves to be the head coach of the West Dakota Beaver Fuckers or whatever.

Also, Hampton is nowhere near as athletic as Jordan Miller. He's got pretty good length (I might give him 6'1" with decently long arms), but he's pretty skinny and not all that fast. Then again I basically described Sidney Jones so what the fuck do I know.
