My dad graduated UW a few months after Tet. Draft still going on a massive numbers. He dodged the draft honorably by joining the Air Force.

The early OK boomers had it the hardest on draft anxiety.

Cracks me up when leftists rail on Trump for not going to Vietnam. Anyone in their right mind used every thing in their power not to go. The last combat vet to be president was HW Bush. Before that was ford. Spare us the born spurs shit. It's dumb.

My entire childhood was a series of saying bye.gif to my dad as he went on another deployment to bomb commies off aircraft carriers. Then, watching part of his squadron fly home to NAS Whidbey nine months later.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

My parents hated CBS and NBC. For some reason, they thought Frank Reynolds and Howard K. Smith on ABC were OK.

When I was in high school and thinking of joining the military, dad told me that was a dumbshit move unless I could do something cool like fly jets. But bad eyesight kept me out.
