Aftermath is best early-period Stones album for me…

VH were LA in 1978 personified.

Beach Boys were LA personified till 1966. Doors and the Laurel Canyon groups in the late 60s. None of those groups fit into the Bay Area sound at all.

I could make a strong case for The Doors, Pet Sounds or VH1 in this pole. All were ground breaking and unlike anything else that had come before. Hell, I'd argue @El_K that VH1 was more revolutionary than Zep 1.

I guess it's the "coolness" factor that always does it for me with the first Doors album.
