The A-6 is probably my favorite carrier fighter plane of all time. Really great at shooting down Migs.

My first thought upon seeing this pole was I fucking love A-10s. I’ve them up close in training and from a distance in Afghanistan but I also know the pole subject was greatest Fighter plane thereby making the A-10 ineligible.

Sounds like some poasters need to learn the difference between types of military planes.

I'm sure B-17 and B-24 tail gunners shot down lots of BF 109s and FW 190s too.

F-16 are great and were cheap to build, but are they really an all timer like the others on this list? Note - I had to include the F-18 for @Swaye but I guess an F-16 is faster and more maneuverable right?

Uh, I don't remember the A-fucking-6 having FOUR movies in its series! No, it had one. And it was badass. Especially that scene where they fly over Whidbey.
