The @YellowSnow rule to claim the rights to a name is you have to have 3/5 of the original band members, plus the original lead singer and primary songwriters.
There's a 1 time exemption for @dflea and AC DC, but not for Van Hagar.
On top of that, the fine print is that it's Hagar, only. Also, Wolfgang Van Halen.
I would love to go to that concert. Sounds like they're all playing some Sabbath / Ozzy covers during their sets?

You know as much as me, but it sounds like it. They haven't revealed any details other that it starts at noon!
It was the hardest ticket I've ever scored. When it went on sale months ago it sold out in 15 minutes and unless you were like top 5,000 in the queue on Ticketmaster you had no chance (this is the two pre-sale codes). Once it went on sale to the gen-pop it was a shit show. People from all over the world bought tickets and use python scripts and shit to get tickets fast. Like as fast as they would show up, you click add to cart and that shit was gone. That happened a hundred times to me. So, I assumed I was going to have to live stream it (which, is only 30 bucks and you can drink beer and sit on the couch - not bad).
BUT - Ticketmaster started allowing resales within Ticketmaster last week (can only sell for face value). So, my friend and I set our browsers to refresh every 5 seconds and shit pops up occasionally. You still miss on most of them, but we got two.
Now the goal is to not get wasted and remember seeing Ozzy and Sabbath lol. We are discussing strategies, I think we are going with "No More Beers" and raw dog it until 800PM, then hit the beer stands.

I agree with the spirit of Yellas law in principle, but just looking at who is playing on Saturday, there are multiple bands with situations similar to AC/DC i.e. untimely deaths but still keeping it real (examples: Metallica, Slayer, Mastadon, possibly Pantera and I would even argue Alice in Chains since Cantrell sang a lot and wrote most of the material) or dismissals (most bands) should not be held against bands that have endured time and are mostly intact.
Even Guns n' Roses have Slash, Axl, and Duff from 1985. It's hard to say that isn't the heart and soul of that band (and I can take or leave them if I am being honest).
And some bands the main guys is the driving force and has at times played all the instruments (Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, etc.) Does it really matter who is behind Dave Grohl when he plays Foo Fighters songs?
But I agree that when fucking Lynyrd Skynyrd (touring the UK as we speak) trots out 10 guys it's like, what are we doing here. It's gross.
Metallica easily passes the Yella test with 3/4 of original classic line up. GNR does too.
AC/DC was just a special scenario were they became even more popular after Bon died. VH stayed hugely popular as well but I hate their sound post 1984.

I think they do pass but they churned during their popular heyday as it was, so you have Liam and Noel plus Bonehead (left after Be Here Now) and two of the later members who joined around 2000.

They aren't my cup of tea, but they write good songs. I think if you have the two brothers you have to make an exception for Oasis. Yella is the arbiter of truth though…
