Man, could have been a lot worse. Michigan's staff is a coach who cries leading a skeleton crew and UCLA doesn't give a shit about football and has to find a coach in February.

Also, Chip inserting the 🪠 into Oregon sideways in Autzen will be special.

This is kind of insane
When has a P5 HC ever intentionally demoted himself like this? Especially leaving a top 30 all time school. It’s pretty wild.
Demotion implies that taking less money and responsibility would be a negative to him.
He won't have to talk to the media much, won't have to put energy into recruiting, still makes a couple mil and Day isn't going to micromanage him.

Right, I completely agree that he’s going to enjoy his job a hell of a lot more. It’s still crazy that the HC of UCLA is leaving to take the OC job at another school. It’s not like this is the HC of Northwestern or Vanderbilt. Maybe I’m overrating how good a job UCLA is though.

It's absolutely insane. Frankly I'm shocked Ohio State would want someone who despises recruiting. Historically, UCLA is right there with UW for 2nd/3rd all time program in whatever conference we? used to be in. Winsipedia - UCLA Bruins vs. Washington Huskies football series history
