Getting rid of the PAT?

I think we should get rid of the kick off. It's too dangerous of a play. That one kid from Rutgers got paralyzed on a kick off.

If you eliminate the PAT, Romo can't fuck up handling the ball and costing his team the game.

In all seriousness, a PAT is not automatic. It has a high success rate, but kickers still manage to fuck them up or have them blocked. Plus, a team should be able to line up for a PAT and fake it to try to get a 2-point conversion.

Just because Gronk broke his arm doesn't mean it should be eliminated.

Fucking Christ.

Here's a thought ... don't put your MVP in the fucking line up for a PAT ...

And what kind of fucking fucktard gets hurt on a PAT ...

I would be willing to bet more fake PAT's occur than injuries blocking for the PAT kick.

Question:

Is someone more likely to get hurt blocking for a PAT ... or going for the elusive 8th point?

Fucktarded argument. Fucktarded suggestion.

If it is an automatic, then make it more dramatic ... like say moving the PAT back to the 10 yard line and put on the left or right hash mark.

I do LOL that the kicker is worried he will no longer be needed.

I don't think it's about injury though, just that it's become a meaningless play when 99.6% of PATs are good.

No, Goodell wants to make the game "safer". While, I'm all for minimizing helmet-to-helmet hits, I think eliminating a facet of the game is foolish. Players are going to get hurt. Whether it's on a halfback dive, getting drilled by Wes Welker, or on a "meaningless" PAT.

goodell is just keeping himself busy for the off season, if he was serious about safety he'd eliminate the kickoff, running plays, passing plays, tackling

Players rarely get hurt on a PAT though. The defenders don't even rush half the time.

Tell that to Goodell. The risk of injury is at the root of this proposal. Plus, not having a PAT gives replay officials more time to review the scoring play. That's not a good reason for eliminating the PAT either.

That's not a bad thing.

Fair enough. The PAT in its current state could use a little more excitement though, whatever that proposal may be.

I can't wrap my mind around how a PAT is dangerous ... but a 45 yard FG attempt is not?

And how going for the "8th" point is any safer?

The court system and rulings on brain damage have this fucker running scared.

I think we should get rid of kicking entirely. Kicking is for pussies. Make teams man up ChipKellyTuff and go for it.

Instead of PATs, we should have both coaches try to hit the uprights from 40 yards. Sark for MVP.

Would it be an automatic 1 unless you opt to try for 2? If not, this is stupid as it fucks the math up.

Yes.

You get 7 points straight up.

If you choose, you can go for 1 point by passing or running for it.

If you fail, you drop to 6 points.

Totally fucking stupid.

You never take points off the board. So few if any teams would go for the extra 1 point ...

this of course accomplishes the safety aspect ...
