Game of Thrones season 8 mega thread

Fuck this show. They wrote and directed the last 2.5 seasons like their bags were packed and one foot was out the door.

I wish they would have just cancelled once they caught up with the books. It wouldn't have been satisfying, as I still loved it up to that point and wanted more, but what we got instead was ridiculous and unworthy of everything that went into the first few seasons.

With the books mostly finished by this point, I can safely declare the season four finale the true series finale. Think about it:

• ⁠Stannis saved the seven kingdoms from the wildlings. They haven't completely ruined his amazing book character by making him a villain for no reason at this point.
• ⁠Arya and Tyrion set sail to start new lives across the sea.
• ⁠Brienne would continue to search for the Stark girls across the 7 kingdoms.
• ⁠Bronn got his nice big castle.
• ⁠Jon helped save the wall and might serve as the new commander of the Nights Watch.
• ⁠Jaime is back in Kings Landing and is content to serve as kingsguard to Tommen.
• ⁠Cersei is still Cersei, plotting against her enemies.
• ⁠Sansa started a new life in the vale, safe from the Lannisters.
• ⁠Danaerys settled down in Mereen or Yunkai or whatever looking to marry Dario after ending the slave trade.
• ⁠Dorne? What's that?
• ⁠Euron Greyjoy and the Iron Islands? Nope

It’s not like the books are that fucking great either. They are entertaining, like the tv series.

Why have standards for writing at all? Why have stories that make any sense? It's all just fantasy. Might as well not even play the show.
