I can't remember why I joined, but I think it had to do with getting another source of info for power outages and downed trees during storms. Several months ago a fitness trainer also told me it was a great place to see what our neighbors were saying about each other. She made it sound like a bitchfest, but I haven't seen any of that. Maybe I'm just not digging deep enough, but I lost interest pretty quickly
