Since you're the resident Penn State expert - looks like Franklin's buyout is $51 million. You think they can make that happen?
I don't, at least not right now. They're in the middle of a bunch of serious stadium renovations for the next 2 years and put a lot of money into the hockey team this year to try to natty in that. I don't think hockey is cheap cause they have real NHL prospects getting paid. Chump change compared to the 50m buyout of course but I honestly don't know where that money comes from when the donors have been asked to fund the stadium renovations plus all those football players who came back + hockey. I mean check out who their stadium sponsor is.
I think they'll let Franklin coach this year and see if he can unfuck their mental block and see where things stand. Franklin sucks and PSU would be better off moving on but they may need to do a Harbaugh deal and get Franklin to take a pay cut first. Or hope he wants to move on himself.

I don't think there is a program more dependent on one coach for their identity than Penn State. Nebraska had Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne. They hired Solich who lost to Miami in the BCS championship and wasn't good enough so they fired him and have been shit ever since
Franklin has won 71 percent of his games which gets a statue at most schools. He just has a knack for losing the important ones. I guess if you gave hm enough time he may win late like Bobby Bowden but Bobby was winning all of the little ones when he was losing the big one

That's funny in how I think back at Solich as kind of a loser. I would not have guessed 75%
One of the endearing things about Husky fans is how every coach sucks and is a loser unless they happen to be sucking and losing at Washington. Then they need more time
