Friend of mine from U of Montana was one of the six who started Absolute Poker and is a source for this book. He’s told me all of it is true in terms of events, other than Mezrich’s typical embellishments adding some flair, and he has a hot Costa Rican wife from their days running the company before Scott Tom got greedy and they all ended up being prosecuted to some degree. Garin and his SAE bros were way ahead of the government for a few years and made millions each before the tax man realized this should be taxed.

Gaming is down across the board. Its why Vegas invested, and the tribes locally, invested in entertainment venues. Instead of spending 'a little' at the tables you're spending 'a little' to watch concerts or other entertainment. That said, the tribal monopoly on sports betting in WA also hasn't been good to the local casino. Kind of surprised Palace Casino in Lakewood is closing. Lot is always full.

The Palace is where the Poker was before moving that all over to Aces in Lakewood. Not sure if Chips is part of the closure since they were connected but ran as separate companies.
……For the price, by far the Best Asian Menu. I may miss the food more than the Casino itself.
Legit, I've heard good things about the food. I don't really gamble but some of the casinos have decent menus. A lot have little sports bars that would be ideal for sports betting but the tribes have a monopoly on that.
Nope, I've only been to a handful and its been at least a year since I've stepped foot in one, mostly just to use the bathroom.
