I always feel bad for USC gu. Kids on the fringe like Johnson. I bet he was pushed out, but the problem is scholarships should be binding for 4 years.

Let's say you get into SC full ride, come to the conclusion you'll be a role player at best, enjoy the academic aspect/college life whatever, and then are asked to leave bc the coach wants his schollie back. Now you're on the hook for the 50k plus per if you want to stay, but have the skills to get a free ride elsewhere.

Or more appropriately could probably play at the PAC level for at least a third of the schools ...

Seven's churn through classes at USC will ultimately rival what Pepsi put together in the survey ... and THAT more than just about anything else will be the downfall of Seven at USC and why he'll fail to hit the high marks people project for him.

Tequilla, when you recruit #1 classes, which Sark will do yearly at SC, thats kind of the n a me of the game. Kids learn this quickly. No hard feelings. They see in practice every day that they arent good enough so they transfer, or stay in school with the new 4-year rule.

Why is Sark the bad guy? Should he give the kid the Rudy treatment and put him in on the last play of the 4th quarter? This is college football '15, and it happens at EVERY major school. Get off your 1969 flashback you old geeztard. Fuckall!

Pete did this at SC the entire time he was there...didn't redshirt anyone got a look at them under fire as freshmen and Sophs and if you couldn't play or weren't going to be all conference it was next man up,usually a 5 star freshmen.

Saban does this at Alabama,Meyer said he doesn't want to redshirt anyone needs them to play or move along.

We still have people thinking Petermen is going to redshirt and develop his way to the Rose Bowl LOL that tried and true method went out the door about the same time DJ walked away.

Newsflash, UW isn't in the same tier as USC, Alabama or Ohio State. The athletes they recruits are a different tier than the athletes we recruit.

We tried the plug-and-play method at UW. It was Sark's 5 years here. Pretty much everyone that contributed under Sark and Petersen's first year played as a freshman: Sankey, ASJ, Kasen, Shaq, Danny, Haouli, Feeney, Timu, Parker, Peters, Ross, Hatchie, Riva, A.Hudson etc. Everyone that didn't got a 1 or a 0. Sark saw Pete's style and thought he could replicate it at UW. It kinda sorta worked, but he had no clue how to develop players which is why the team was so biploar between the good players and whoever was the best of the rest.

If Petersen wants UW to get to the Rose Bowl, he'll need to recruit the plug-and-play players that UW is able to recruit and he needs to develop everyone else. You can't have a successful football team when only 50% of the players on the field are talented/good.

Michigan state, Wisconsin, boise state, tcu, georgia, missiouri, louisiville, Baylor , oregon all approve your message. So many freshman litter their 2 deeps.

You are mostly wrong and the stuff you are right about are generalities. Players buried on the bench transfer at every school. Obviously a few of them are inevitable. It's also a little different when you are Alabama or Ohio State and almost your entire class is 4 and 5 star guys that every school in the country want.

Talented freshman should play right away. That will continue under Petersen as we saw with Budda, Sidney Jones, and Pettis. Nobody is crying over Kikaha, Shelton, Shaq, Kasen, ASJ, Sankey, etc playing right away. You are a moron if you don't think the program would have been better off having Kevin Smith, Ducre, Tokalahi, and others redshirt.

Like @whatshouldicareabout‌ posted, you can't have 50% of the class contribute and the other half do nothing. You need to develop depth. A 23 year old lineman is typically better than an 18 year old. Some guys are going to play three years and go to the NFL. Others should redshirt and start contributing a little later in their careers. The DJ method may be dated as players don't redshirt like they used to, but there needs to be a balance.

Sark recklessly played some guys. Only a fool would say we couldn't have used Greg Ducre and Kevin Smith last year. Having Tokalahi in 2013 would have been nice.

Yep and as the Dawgfather said, the best time to play freshmen and sophomores are when they are juniors and seniors.

Obviously there are exceptions to that rule but guys are less likely to get hurt or overwhelmed if they redshirt and then are back-ups for a year or two.
