Fisch is not the guy and we will be worse next year

UW got no favors by the schedule in the inaugural year, either.

UW rarely plays back to back road games at environments like that. They will be adjust and be okay moving forward. They don't lose at home, and won't next week against usc
we? are in the B10 now. any year Buck is avoided is a good schedule.

last year’s team would have cruised through this schedule.

the good news is Florida is doing marginally better lately and Washington’s recent performances make it less likely the Gators will steal Fisch.

so there’s that.
We should start a long thread about how worried we are to lose Fisch to Florida.
Hopefully I'll get a phone call from the beat writer at the Gainesville Sun.

Every broadcast the announcers make a big deal out of Fisch and his staff using a “professional football” approach to running the program.
That’s a great approach. If you have players who are true pros. Just because they are paid doesn’t make them professional.
Fisch has always been overrated. He doesn’t relate with the players at all and neither does his staff. He’s the guy who sells you shitty products, promises great customer service, then bolts for a different job.
The Arizona miracle was a desert mirage and UW (and many of us) got sucked into thinking it was real. Same story, different coach.
This is the way.
The only disagreement I have is that the players speak glowingly about Belichick. Only coach you hear good things about from them

maybe we can dig up some dirt on Florida’s AD to force him to hire Fisch. That is probably our only hope

remember, Pat Chun did not hire Jess Fisch and his buyout is minuscule
The buyout is if he leaves. I'm pretty sure UW owes him most, if not all, of his remaining contract (similar to Jimmy Lake being on the books for multiple years).
Yup. UW isn’t firing Fishdicks after year 3. No way. That’d be upwards of 30 million to part ways at that point. Upper campus needed to have their arms twisted to pony up the 13 million to get Jimmy to go away. UW is stuck with Jedd for at least four, maybe five years. He’s got all the time in the world. There’s a reason there is no urgency whatsoever about this season. Shit, he’s still constantly rotating seven OL halfway into the season. He gives two fucks about this team, this year. He’s building from the ground up and essentially said as much from his first press conference. Obligatory, 2026 will be special.
oh man, I can't wait for 2027 when "building from the ground up" is in the half brain hall of fame. You don't know the mess that Barry Odom inherited at UW, you just don't.

If you don’t have a daddy to fund a 20 million dollar roster I guess building from the ground up is your default setting. Yay!

Deboar had no interest in negotiating. It was well known in the yacht club (which has many school admin and AD members). The school reached out and was willing to pay well over what Bama is paying him now but he wouldn’t even take a seat with them. Remember the comments about how, “we’ll work it out later” etc. etc. his plan the entire time was to bolt. He viewed us as a stepping stone and that was it. Had nothing to do with an admin low ball

makes sense as he was ass at recruiting his entire tenure.

I don't see how the Huskies will be worse next year, they will return 4x as many starters (at least 8 instead of just 2 in 2024) and that includes 5 OL with starting experience (McCree, Memalaar, Hatchett, Azzopardi, and Faasolo / Tafai).
Plus the staff will have the winter portal period to continue to address the holes that Lake's / DeBoer's recruiting left for them. That will be 1 OL, 2 DL, 1 or 2 LB, and maybe a TE (if Moore doesn't RS this year) and maybe a RB (depending on what happens with Coleman and Sam Adams).

Awfully warm for October 2024 but there's nothing that points to UW being worse in 2025 and the schedule should be a at least a little easier.
The OL, which is this year's biggest weakness, should have a lot more experience. I heard Locked On Huskies say Titiali may find another year as well, though I think it might just be time to build for the future. I assume Moore may also be back and is plus in running blocking.
A QB returns with reps in the system and who has a much higher ceiling than the one we had coming in this year and a whole offseason to get better.
The defense is the big question. They're gonna have to hit the portal hard. I think they've struggled enough that Belichick is back which is a positive.
If the team isn't better next year we are in big trouble and it's time to start panicking.

Are there any NFL guys on the D right now? I'm not sure that there are.

This. Case closed. End of discussion

I don't see any surefire even borderline NFL guys on D right now or coming back. Thad Dixon actually might be the best and playing himself into getting drafted with his size. Bruener probably gets a UDFA shot because of his heart and Tuputala because of his size/athleticism. Possibly KamFab.
Guys who are coming back Durfee (who I assume gets another year) looks like an NFL DE but has barely played, Prysock has such good measurables I think he has a good shot at getting drafted in 2026 if he plays well in 2025, and I like Jayvon Parker and he probably has a couple years to make it happen.

Isiah Ward maybe but he needs to get bigger. I like Elinneus Davis but he's only a RS-Frosh so tough to say.
