Jones was more important to the band's history, both as a key founding member influencing their direction as the leading blues band of the British Invasion, and as a multi-instrumentalist in the 1966- 67 period (e.g., sitar on "Paint it Black", dulcimer on "Lady Jane", piano on "Let's Spend the Night Together").

All that said, Jake Browning sucks, and I voted for the Mick Taylor era. Talyor was really the only virtuoso lead guitar player they had and played on 2.5 of their best albums- i.e., Let it Bleed, Sticky and Exile. He enabled Keef to basically kick back, get high, and focus on the greasiest open tuning riffs in rock history. Jones on the other hand was hardly a factor on Beggars (excepting slide guitar on "No Expectations") and Let it Bleed.

I love Ron Wood, but more for his work in the Faces, than the Stones.
