Favorite Duck QB of all time?

Not sure I’d call him a bust but I don’t see him ever getting them over the line.

He’s not a quick thinker. Watching those 4 QBs go this last weekend compared to him there’s a massive gap.
He has been blessed with a corch that I think can work within his limitations though.

He’s been with a shitty franchise from Head Coach to their cheap ownership. Hiring Jim H very likely will change the Chargers trajectory and elevate Herbert.
Their most difficult hill to climb is their division has the best head coaching and the AFC have the best qbs. Burrow, Mahomes, and Allen. Lamar is fun to watch but he’s the odd man out when it comes to winning in January imo. I’m surrounded by Charger fans and I hadn’t seen this level of excitement in nearly 2 decades, I expect them to play in the Superbowl. Hebert is light years better than Kaperdink lead SB team.

My eldest is a Boolt and one of my long time non quook friends is too. I am forced to watch a lot of Chargers. I’ve hit Sofi 3 or 4 times due to this plague as I’m always up for a good time out

Herbert is hardly a bust. The guy can make throws that maybe a handful of QBs can make. Agree with A2 that this has been largely situational, though I will say Herbert has never flashed that "fire in your belly" thing that the great ones have (though expressed differently from guy to guy). He's like the kid who had elite speed growing up and therefore never developed toughness because he could always run away from everybody. That is something to watch. OTOH, his teammates love him and when defenders continually try to hurt him they come fiercely to his defense on the field. That's telling.
Herbs is the quintessential franchise QB. He needs an offensive line and some time with a good head coach. He was anally raped in that playoff game against the Texans and still walked off the field. Something to be said for that.
Remember, too, that Dan Marino played in and lost one, ONE, Super Bowl. And Trent Dilfer has a ring.
It's never been the test for bust. It might be the test for GOAT, but not for great.

There might be something to that. I agree. He seems at times to try and be careful when he plays. A lot of really stupid (in the ordinary sense) guys have excelled at that position, so it seems to be more a function of instinct or a willingness to be aggressive and take chances. Sometimes QBs make quick decisions because they "let it rip." Somebody needs to tell him to just play.
